The end of that where he says he wanted it. I think is interesting. I didn’t know he coached tbt games. He would of taken less money for himself and more money for his assistant coaches. He didn’t go into detail who they were going to be but Wisconsin head coaches maybe or college head coaches i think because they said they were going to be good.

We all live in different worlds. We have radically different perceptions of reality and what is workable and good for our lives. This would have been a part-time/celebrity hire. The fear was would this be more sizzle than substance?

That’s how I look at the Will Ryan hire. I think Doug Gottlieb would have brought a better coaching staff. Better team I don’t know maybe.

Thanks for sharing Tulsa. Definitely worth the listen to hear his perspective and where his head was at.
It’s interesting that he admits he wouldn’t have given up his daily radio show or podcast which would have kinda made him a part time head coach.

Gottlieb would have felt like and looked like a gimmick hire. This is a blue collar, tradition based, hard hat/lunchpale community that would have viewed this hire like a joke. I'm glad they went in another direction.

Thanks for sharing Tulsa. Definitely worth the listen to hear his perspective and where his head was at. It’s interesting that he admits he wouldn’t have given up his daily radio show or podcast which would have kinda made him a part time head coach. There are several reasons why Doug Gottlieb would have been a poor choice for head coach of the Green Bay Phoenix basketball program. Firstly, while he does have experience as a college basketball player, he has never been a true head coach at any level. Coaching a college basketball team requires a unique set of skills, including the ability to recruit top talent, manage a team, develop game strategies, and handle the pressures of high-stakes games. Gottlieb's lack of coaching experience could have made it difficult for him to succeed in these areas. Additionally, Gottlieb has a successful career as a sports radio talk host, and he has made it clear that he has no plans to give up his radio show if he were to become a head coach. Balancing the demands of coaching a college basketball team with hosting a daily radio show would be a difficult task, and it could have led to Gottlieb being spread too thin. Coaching requires a tremendous amount of time and effort, and it's unlikely that Gottlieb would have been able to give both roles the attention they deserve. Moreover, Gottlieb has been involved in several controversies throughout his career as a commentator, including making inappropriate comments about African American basketball players and mocking a player's struggle with depression. These incidents could have damaged his credibility with players, alumni, and the broader community, and could have made it difficult for him to establish trust and respect with his team. In conclusion, while Doug Gottlieb is a knowledgeable and passionate basketball commentator, his lack of coaching experience, his commitment to his radio show, and his controversial past make him an ill-suited candidate for the head coach position at the Green Bay Phoenix basketball program.
