Tuesday 6pm CST
It isn't often this year that GB gets to play a team it has shown that it can beat but that is the case with UDM.
UDM has beat GB pretty easily at Calihan Hall in the last few years and I believe they were pretty good at home until losing on Saturday.
Madut Akec has been injured, I am not sure what his status is. Waterman and Harvey have been playing better as the season has gone on. Like any Detroit Mercy game, will Antoine Davis shoot them in or out of the game is what really matters. When GB beat UDM earlier this year AD was pretty inefficient.
For a team with only 4 D1 wins all year it may be a lot to ask to win 4 in a row now but hey why not think big so that I can #SeeYouInDayton
UWM in 2017 and Cleveland State in 2018 both cast aside bad regular seasons to make runs to the championship game. GB doing the same would be a fun finish to an otherwise less than enjoyable season.

It would almost feel wrong to be the team to end Antoine Davis' storied career, but that's the nature of low-level D1 basketball...your season can end in the blink of an eye after one bad game. If (and when) the Titans beat us, I'm rooting for them to go dancing. Until then, go Nix!

The season ending in a blink of an eye is true for 275 to 325 teams in college basketball. That isn't just a HL issue. The bubble isn't that big and from about the 10th rated conference on you have to win the tournament to get in with a few exceptions.
With that in mind I'm not ready for the GB season to end and I hope the team feels the same. Ending others seasons would be a sweet treat for all of the smack GB had to endure.
Sending AD home early would be a great way for him to go out. He has been a good individual player in a team game. Losing to GB would highlight exactly what the Davis family has been doing wrong the last 4 years.
Of course anytime I say something like that it usually blows up in my face so I'm sure AD will score 50 tonight while getting a triple double and UDM wins by 30.

The last time we played, Davis was 9 of 13 from inside the arc, but an awful 2 of 13 from long-range. I don't think it's realistic to expect he'll shoot that poorly from the arc again this game.

Davis is a career 2pt FG% of 45% and this year his 2pt FG% is 47.5%. Previously against GB he hit 69.5%.
Davis is a career 36.3% 3 point shooter and is 37.7% this year who is coming into this game having made 16 of his last 35 for 45.7% in his last four games. He was 5 for 21 from deep in the two games before that.
Davis has 394 turnovers in 108 career games. He has 87 this year in 26 games. That is a career average of 3.6 and a season average of 3.3. He has 10 games with 2 or less and 10 games with 4 or more this year.
This is the joy and frustration of Antoine Davis. Other than making free throws which he always does, he has only missed 60 of 524 in his career, it is safe to say we have no clue which AD is going to play. I know he will play hard but knowing if he will be additive to winning or not in any given game almost feels like a fool's errand.

This is definitely a winnable game for the Phoenix. The problem is going to be defending the 3 point line and manufacturing points ourselves. Contributions are going to be needed by someone besides Kamari. I also would like to see Steiber used more on Davis. Last time we threw Kamari on him and thats just asking to get him in foul trouble. Plus steiber has far more length. I could easily see the phoenix winning this or I could see them getting blown out.

McGee is going to have an amazing career here, Meyer and Kellog showed progress, though Meyer couldn't really get going tonight. Ansong continued to provide athletic play.
Now the team needs to find a few more guards that can defend at the D1 level, McGee and Ansong need major help to turn this defense around.

Got down 10 to start, AD went nuts and despite some good effort and contributions from unexpected sources they never really had a chance to win. They didn't start to really go until they were down 20 and by then it was too late.
AD didn't go for 50 in a 30 point win but 38 in a 17 point win didn't feel much better.
There were some signs of life and improvement but for now I'm just going to let this end to the season fade from my memory.

I would like everyone's opinion on this. So obviously the game is over and we can't change it. But why did we not have ansong or lucas on Davis to start the game? When they played at the resch Kamari got in foul trouble guarding him. Then this game he started out on him and Davis went off. In the second half when we had him under control both Manny and Lucas split time on him. Nothing against Kamari as he is a great player, but he doesnt have the size or length to cover someone like Davis. The size and length of Manny and Lucas seemed to be much more effective.

Kamari was awesome on him in the first meeting. Lucas defended really well last season, but hasn't guarded anyone this season, he rarely even bothers to get in a defensive stance. We need more capable defenders than just Kamari and Manny. Ivory getting himself booted really hurt, he would have been perfect in this match up.

Not that it is any consolation, but in terms of 3-point shooting, it's hard to get much worse than Purdue Fort Wayne shot last night in their loss to NKU - 3 of 20 on 3-point attempts.
NKU against Wright State for the championship. The conference top 4 are creating sizeable separation, I think, versus the rest of us.

I am not sure that anyone in this league is really separating. CSU was a doormat a few years ago and apparently is in very serious danger of losing their head coach to Georgia. For most of the schools success is cyclical because it relies so much on the players. Very few of the schools in the league can say they truly have a program. WSU seems to have a program and NKU as well though Horn does have some very important players that are holdovers from Brannen.
CSU has Patton, Jack, Finstuen and Eichelberger moving on. They have Beaudoin, Johnson, Hodge, Gomillion, Hill and Greene all needing to opt in for a final year. They play no young players.
PFW is losing Pipkins and Benford for sure. Planutis, Kpedi and Godfrey all have to opt in. They play 2 younger guys in Billups and Peterson.
NKU needs Faulkner, Langdon, Sims, Brandon and Nelson to all opt in for a final year. Vinson and Warrick are stud young players.
WSU is losing two guys for sure that don't play. Finke and Basile may not return. Basile graduated in December. They do have five guys who do play but should return in Holden, Calvin, Norris, Welage and Braun.
The hill that GB and others have to climb isn't insurmountable. Unlike Milwaukee, RMU and UDM that seem to go for older transfers primarily. Other teams like OU, YSU, IUPUI and GB seem committed to bringing in a mix of young and old guys to build a program that can climb the hill to the top and have a try to have a little staying power.
I know this much. GB has never been this far off before and I highly doubt they stay there very long.
