I don’t quite understand why WR is taking heat already.
We were pretty much competitive in every Horizon league game except for that ass kicking in Detroit. This was after taking over a program during the middle of a pandemic.
Has brought in three top ten recruits from WI, 2 more than Linc Darner ever did.
Now was I expecting different players in the transfer portal? Yes I can admit that. But in the end, Listau, Tucker, Ivory, Jenkins all are pieces that could bring success to the program. Just gotta add that big man, whether it be Pat S or Schmitt.
Now let’s start getting that non conference schedule together and see how these freshman perform at the collegiate level. That’s what I am most excited for.
My all too early starting five: JK3 Ansong Listau Blayton Kamari
Letsssss gooooo

Don't get me wrong, I think that Ryan was a good choice for coach and he will likely have success in Green Bay. But I do think his name had something to do with him being hired, it may also have something to do with his success. It is difficult to evaluate the 2021 incoming class since both Meyer and Dailey were offered by Darner. Opportunities for the 2021 class were impacted by the extra year of elegibility and the number of transfers. The 2022 class will allow better evaluation of Ryan's recruiting ability.

Kyle Ross being a 3 star freshman. Pat Suemnick and Ryan Schmitt are all good big man options there are probably other recruits there looking at hopefully big men. Probably very fair Terrence Thompson isn’t coming back he is not the last scholarship. I would hope Treavon Martin from uic is in the mix as well didn’t play much last year 6’8 with a 7’2 wing span that would be helpful on defense.

With Colin Schafer transferred. A walk on spot so now they can get a scholarship big man and a walk on guard probably.

Hopefully with Milwaukee getting Kyle Ross that means uwgb will get Patrick Suemnick.

The son of the coach advantage has had a bit of a recruiting snowball effect for the Panthers. Whether that can be sustained beyond the future NBA lottery picks time in Milwaukee is another question. On the recruiting front for GB, this is an unusual year. There will be some good options late in the process when the music stops and everyone has to find a place to land.

Baldwin is in the last year of his contract in Milwaukee I believe. That’s not good for recruiting IMO

Hopefully with Milwaukee getting Kyle Ross that means uwgb will get Patrick Suemnick. I don’t think GB was even in on Kyle Ross anymore. So in my book, it wasn’t really a loss. Good luck to him though. I would agree, I don't get the sense that GB had been actively recruiting him of late. I am not entirely sure any of his other "finalists" were that active either. He picked the school that just offered him. That seems like a move you do when your other options aren't that serious, especially when two of those "options" were from much stronger programs. I did read an article about his commitment to UWM and he said all of the right things. Plus he looks like a pretty versatile player that should be a nice contributor to UWM in the future if he keeps progressing as expected. So that is awesome that he found a D1 home and at the same time his commitment to UWM "over" GB says little to me. As for Suemnick with Ross and the 3 other taller guys that UWM landed via the portal it would seem that door is closing or maybe even closed. I would still like to see him in GB's front court. I know some people, myself included, were disappointed that things didn't work out with Thompson. I think Suemnick would ease those feelings.

For those who are worried about where the Nix are in the search for a big, here's a post from SilverWarrior on the Marquette Scout message board. "As of this morning, I figure approximately 56% of the 1,603 players who placed their name in the transfer portal have decided on their new school. Roughly 700 players still have not decided."
The bottom line, this is a unique recruiting cycle and there are radically more available players this spring and summer. Besides the transfer market, across the board, we're seeing JUCO and high school players being under-recruited.

They could still add a walk on because Colin Schafer left maybe Patrick Suemenick or guard or wing?

Ironically, Majok looks like a better option in the post. Because of the COVID exemption, Majok may have three years of eligibility. Players who wait to commit might be sorry during this recruiting cycle. There are a finite number of scholarships. A walk-on spot with a chance to earn a scholarship isn't a bad bet for a local player. It may be too tough for some to go that route -- financially and emotionally.

Quinton Bolton a Wisconsin freshman 6’6 wing could be a good walk on from the Wisconsin playground Warriors which some of the other freshman played on averaged 20 ppg and 10 rebounds his senior year.
