I want this game and I know the guys do too. They went toe to toe with the “league leaders” last night but in the end we beat ourselves. If you look at the stats, we won every category except turnovers and three pointers made.
Guys will be motivated tonight to get it done! Let’s go Green Bay, let’s bring a W back to Green Bay!

I think GB has a really good shot tonight. They took the CSU punches at the end of each half and now know what it looks to have a game like this closed out on them. For the most part since the YSU series GB has done a nice job in game 2 of each series once they have seen what the other team can do. The entire program is learning on the job but learning quickly.

This team is incredibly frustrating to watch. Just infuriating. It’s clear they can beat anyone on any given night despite not having the greatest talent, but they have these lapses at the wrong time that are killer.
This team is going to be one and done in the conference tourney or win it all. I don’t think there’s going to be an in-between. It’s all going to click at once or it just won’t.
It was nice to see Amari go off these last two games at least.

That first half was brutal! It cost us the game.
Goss, Minnett and Burk incoming to the Kress on Friday. Who else is nervous?

Both games giving up three at the end of the first half hurt.

That was another game that was tough to watch as a fan. The falling behind by 18 was hard to take. The cutting it down to 3 and then not getting over the hump was equally frustrating.
CSU was really aggressive in making sure PJ and Josh didn't get good looks from deep. Their defense really took away some of the usual open looks those guys get and made them pass to guys who can't or won't shoot. Even with that GB was in position to win both games.
Since the game was in Cleveland, apparently Woodrich was trying his best Jordan over Ehlo impression on that fading to his left 3 point shot at the end of the half. Just a horrible time and shot to foul on. A no contest or rear contest would have been a better decision. The team has to be smarter if they want to win games like this.
I look forward to the day when GB has guys who are experienced enough, big enough, athletic enough and strong enough to play the defense Coach Ryan is teaching. In this game GB gave up some lobs that I thought were gone for the season. Also, CSU came out of timeout and threw it into the post Al Eichelberger. Al proceeded to go one on one to back TT down to the hoop for an easy hook shot. No double, nobody digging at the ball just a straight one on one play. In the future GB can hopefully win those kind of battles but right now they can't. Gomillion went bully ball mode on GB in the second half as well. The roster doesn't have a big guard who can move with him. I understand it is about establishing a philosophy on how to play but right now some guys need to get stronger to play this way. The defense is rated 323 in Kenpom for a reason this season.
Coach Ryan pretty much takes everyone out if they commit a turnover. Lucas had an untimely one in the GB run at about the 6 minute mark in the second half. Like anyone else he came out which I appreciate the consistency. However, Ansong committed a foul immediately on Gomillion and Lucas came right back in the game. It isn't my team to run but as a fan of the team I don't like that. In the previous games I haven't seen many or any instances when guys come right back in like that after a mistake.
Green Bay played six big guys for a total of 70 minutes and they grabbed 7 rebounds. Now there weren't a lot of rebounds to grab but that number is super low. That has to get better to win games like this.
I am salty right now but not down for the count on the season. They are right there, so close I can taste the success. I really do believe winning is a process and going through the process can be trying but worthwhile in the end.

Also, a special note for Amari Davis. Because he isn't a freshman anymore he doesn't get an honor every week like last season. However, he had a big time weekend. He was great on offense both games and I thought he competed and limited Hodge fairly well.
CSU had to rely on other guys to carry the scoring load this weekend because of Hodge not getting too many easy looks.
