We have a plethora of guards, let’s go get a big man grad or JUCO transfer.

I don’t think a single GB fan will be upset about this. Can’t think of a memorable thing he’s done since joining the team. Would actually be surprised if another D1 team takes him. Not trying to hate, just being honest.

No one one this board should say one bad thing about Hunter. A team first guy who hopefully finds a good landing spot to see some playing time.
Thank you Hunter!

There is a guy who currently plays for West Virginia who is a local kid that would be a perfect fit in Green Bay.....

The best of luck to Hunter, he came in when Anderson bailed out. It was late in the recruiting season and the Nix had limited options because of the timing and level of communication from Anderson. Hunter represented the school well in the classroom and as a teammate. Now, it's time to get that grad degree. This is an example of using basketball as a vehicle to get a solid education and build a future.

I can't say that I have ever spoken to Hunter but I go to games and pay attention to little things. I know he gets good grades, he is a supportive teammate from what I can tell and he plays very hard. I appreciate his overall contribution to UWGB and wish him well on his next stop. He strikes me as the kind of guy who is going to be successful in his life.
I think Hunter has more game than given credit for. I don't know where he will end up but he could be a nice player in the right overall environment.

Here is some information I found since I had the time with no basketball to watch.
For Bennett his best team was probably 1993-94. They finished 15-3 in conference which was 1st place. His top 5 scorers that year were Jeff Nordgaard, Logan Vander Velden, John Martinez, Jeremy Ludvigson and Ben Berlowski.
For Heideman his best team was 1995-96. They finished 16-0 in conference which was 1st place. His top 5 scorers that year were Jeff Nordgaard, Ben Berlowski, Eric Jackson, Gary Greszk and Pete Wade.
For Kowalcyzk his best team was probably 2008-09. They finished 13-5 in conference which was 2nd place. His top 5 scorers that year were Ryan Tillema, Troy Cotton, Mike Schachtner, Rahmon Fletcher and Terry Evans.
For Wardle his best team was 2013-14. They won the conference regular season finishing with a record of 14-2. His top 5 scorers that year were Keifer Sykes, Alec Brown, Greg Mays, Carrington Love and Jordan Fouse.
In the regular season Darner’s best teams have finished the conference in third place. That happened in 2016-17 with a record of 12-6 and again in 2019-20 with a record of 11-7. His top 5 scorers in 2016-17 were Charles Cooper, Kerem Kanter, Khalil Small, Trevor Anderson and Warren Jones. His top 5 scorers in 2019-20 were JayQuan McCloud, Amari Davis, Kam Hankerson, PJ Pipes and Cody Schwartz.
It is no secret that fan interest is way down in GB basketball. I think there are a lot of reasons for that, many of them beyond the control of anyone on Nicolet Drive. I think it is also fair to say that fans enjoy watching kids develop from the high school level. I know recruiting is way different and retaining players is way different. However, the best teams this program has had were loaded with high school players that fans could enjoy for 4 years. I am guilty of looking at the transfer portal and looking online at who is available. However, I don’t think the culture in Green Bay has changed a ton over the years. Fans see the UW Badgers winning games with high school players and player development. I think they expect the same from GB. So for the last scholarship please get a high school player. I know the AD and the coaching staff come from the lower ranks of basketball but if you really want to engage the GB community again recruiting 2 year or less players might not get the job done. Fans are more excited about Japannah Kellogg than they are Paris Taylor in my opinion. That might not be fair but I don’t think it is inaccurate.

I’m not sure fans will care more just because the starting five is comprised with high schoolers from the 920 if they are only winning a handful of games per year. Consistent winning is what draws in casuals.

Nobody is saying those kids have to come from 920 to draw fan interest. There aren't that many kids in the 920 who can can play D1 and still win.
Having high school kids from anywhere who can play, stay 4 years and build momentum for the program is important. With the two year or less guys they are gone so quick fans don't get attached to them.
A key part of this for GB is getting high school kids who have other offers. Win some recruiting battles to win fan interest and win more games with better players and interested fans. People have knocked Will and Hunter on this board. The two guys people don't think are D1 were also the two guys who didn't have many/any D1 offers.
