Both teams coming off disappointing loses. Which team will overcome disappointment and get the W? Green Bay has the more veteran team so we have that in our favor! Being 4-1 and going back to Green Bay would be hugeeeeeeee!
Go Green Bay!

Can the guys make it 5 straight games where they fall behind by double digits? As discouraging as Thursday night was, this is a winnable road game that will keep us even in the loss category with two home games next week. GB is now 294th out of 353 in KenPom defense- which comes to nobody's surprise if you have watched the last few weeks. Oakland does not have any guards comparable to Appleby, Davis or even Quisenberry so time to stop the dribble penetration. Oakland plays slower than they normally have- can GB speed them up and keep Hill-Mays off of his game underneath. Oakland is also 349th in defense- do not settle for contested shots and take care of the ball!

Another game another career high for an opposing player. Newman with 33. Change needs to be made. Change the rotation, change the line up. DO SOMETHING

If I showed up at my job and constantly did things wrong there would be consequences. I’m talking to you Green Bay coaching staff.

If I showed up at my job and constantly did things wrong there would be consequences. I’m talking to you Green Bay coaching staff. Honest question: how much of it is execution and how much of it is coaching?

If it happens one or two games then execution but it’s been 5 in a row where we have done the same things wrong. It’s on the coaching staff.

The conference standings are upside down....UDM and Oakland are top 3, while WSU is at or near the bottom. NKU is still near the top, while GB is middling in....well......the middle. RP40 is utter garbage basketball right now. They score a lot, but can't defend a folding chair.
At this rate, AD Charles Guthrie should get his mental short list together of future HC candidates together.

Count me as down but not out on this season. The second half of the Oakland game sucked and obviously another guy on the perimeter went off. What bothered me though is not playing Manny more to try and slow down the big guys inside. Tank and McNair were not big enough to defend inside against Oakland and for whatever reason not able to take advantage of their quickness on the other end.
I do really like that Kam has just been asked to score and defend, while not being a primary ball handler anymore. He has blossomed in that role and is playing like everyone thought.
With that in mind I think it is time to put position less basketball down for just a bit and get back into a more traditional role. Don't get me wrong play RP40 if that is what you do. However, take the ball out of Sandy's hands. He will was leading the team in assists before he was bringing the ball up and he will continue to make plays going forward. I would just prefer to have the two guys with point guard mind sets, PJ and Hunter, bring the ball up and initiate the offense. I think the offense works better when guys are moving. Have those guys get it up the court, make a pass and then move to the next spot to force other guys to move. Right now Sandy is getting it up the court and has a big load to carry as guys watch him. Also, by using those two PG's I think two things will happen. One, I think PJ and Hunter are two of the most pesky defenders GB has, so hopefully that improves the defense. Also, I think Sandy will have to exert less energy getting the ball up the court/creating and can step up his defense even more as well.
Right now I think a tweak needs to a happen. This 3-2 team has been down double digits in every league game. Why put yourself in a hole every game? Make a change. Only play one of the two guys who handle, start the offense, knock down open jumpers and play on ball defense. Play two of Sandy, Kam and McCloud at all times to use their skills to create offense and if you want to continue the switching defense they are interchangeable. Have Tank or Bell rotate minutes. Play one of Cody or Manny at all times because they are the only big guys GB has. In fact I like Cody with Tank and Manny with Bell. Then you can play 4 guys on the perimeter and one guy on the baseline who can come up as high as the free throw line if needed.
I don't know half of what the coaching staff knows about basketball and that is on a great day for me and a horrible day for them. However, I do know fans and expectations. Fans look at this team as very talented and have expectations to win games. The staff and athletic department think this team is talented as well. So don't let a season go to waste, don't let apathy really set in among the remaining fans. Try some tweaks and go win some games. Making the league finals isn't an unreal expectation for this team and yet it feels really far away after these 5 games.

I am very anxious and nervous to see how this team responds this Thursday. IUPUI and UIC will be tough games for the Nix as both teams shoot very well from the outside. If Green Bay isnt careful, then we could be heading to WSU and NKU 3-4.

Making the league finals isn't an unreal expectation for this team and yet it feels really far away after these 5 games. Well said, though it may be too late about the apathy part since attendance has decreased every season since Darner took over and hasn't been this low since the late 1980s. I'm feeling right now kind of like I did after the Bowling Green game, which came a week after a huge win over Belmont. It seems like any time GB builds any momentum they come out and lay a massive egg and we're back to square one. The team was picked to finish fourth by basically every publication which is exactly where they're at right now, but this team could realistically be 1-4 right now if not for two miracle comebacks against the worst two teams in the league. The good news is that they're only a game out of first with still about 75% of the conference season left to play yet it feels kind of hopeless right now. Maybe I'm just a little too over-deflated (if that's a term) after two really bad showings in metro Detroit. Two wins against IUPUI and UIC would go a long way towards building up some fan confidence and maybe excitement. 5-2 sounds a whole lot better than 4-3 or obviously 3-4.
