Valpo has been noticeably down this year. Yes, they have good wins against Rhode Island and BYU, but they've also lost to Santa Clara and have been on the ropes in many games that they expected to have big wins in. Their second best player Jubril Adekoya is out for the season, apparently due to academic dishonesty issues. Their other remaining go-to guy, Shane Hammink is apparently a head case who their fans are complaining about for having a terrible attitude and not hustling at all. Outside of Alec Peters, Valpo hasn't really been able to get anything going offensively. They are 311th in the nation in 3 point shooting at 30% and have shot 19% from 3 over their last four. The key deficiency for Valpo is their bench, which does not bode well for them against us, who have no fewer than 9 guys that can reliably contribute on both sides of the ball. Another key for us will be free throw shooting. We are nearly at 70% which is a huge improvement over the last few years. Last time against Valpo, Cooper had 27 free throw attempts. If we are drawing that many fouls and can force Valpo to shoot the long ball, I see absolutely no reason as to why we can't win this one on the road. The Crusaders are no longer the top dog, they are vulnerable and they are certainly beatable.
Prediction:
GB 82 - Valpo 80, Peters misses a three at the buzzer

We shall see how far this team has come in the last month. Their conference slate has been pretty light so far. No Oakland or Valpo yet. And UIC has started off strong and not the bottom-feeder it has been the past few years.
Valpo is not the team it has been the last few years. Fernandez was a rebounding and defensive stud, Skara (who is now at Clemson) was a good player and a bit underappreciated since Peters was the go-to guy. And Keith Carter was a stabilizing force in the backcourt.

Line is 8.5 advantage Valpo. Time to make Vegas look like a bunch of idiots! Vegas has absolutely gotten hammered the past week in bad football lines resulting in millions upon millions in losses. Let's contribute our small part in putting the sports books in the ground with another poorly drawn up line!

Another annoyance I've consistently read from their fans is that if the conference tourney ran through the ARC last season, Valpo would have beaten us. I call bs. If you can't beat us on a neutral court, that just proves you aren't the better team, plain and simple. Beating them at the ARC tonight would certainly make the Valpo fans eat their words.

Also beating them at the Arc would greatly help recruiting.
One random thought. I watched the Illinois State/Wichita State game the other night. Illinois State looks like a solid program and we stole away one of their top prioritzed recruits in Trevian Bell. I'm excited for his UWGB career.

Taken from their forum Valpo is still 'top dog,' which will be proven tonight Valpo 71 GB 57 ----------------- How delusional can you get?! *Gets beat by Santa Clara, gets killed by Oakland, on the ropes against CSU and UIC, gets beat in semis last year, STILL insists they are the team to beat*

Big test tonight for a GB team that's playing well but could use a quality win to generate more buzz. The ARC is a tough place to win but Oakland led basically wire to wire their last week. Outside of Peters and Hammick we match up pretty well with them. They certainly are not as good as they were last year but Peters has the ability to put a team on his back. I read something where he needs 26pts and 15 boards to break the Valpo record in both categories. The guys should be confident, Valpo will probably have a nice crowd and it should be an entertaining game. Things never seem to end up well playing in that building though.

Our defense has been fine, poor shot selection on our part has contributed to cold shooting so far. At least the refs are letting the guys play, no real complaints there.

As expected a complete no show tonight.
Knew they had no chance to win but was at least expecting a game.
That 3 at the buzzer was a killer and I think took wind out of our sails
Oakland lost again at home to Cleveland st. How in the hell did they win at valpo again? They are now one point away from losing three in a row including two at home. We will still probably lose to Oakland at least once as we can't match up with them.
Why are we settling for 3s?

O well you can't win them all, time to learn from this and move on. We can't have a let down like Oakland and drop a game at home.

Anyone listen to the radio feed after the game?
I'd love to hear what our assistant coach said about us urinating on our own leg with a chance to show we are for real tonight
After tonight's game I can see why fans are skeptical to come out and see this team with zero signature wins on the books

They made everything and we had separate 7 minute droughts. I'm not worried. We started worse off last year and ended up winning the conference. I look at Valpo like the Cowboys, they can have all the regular season success they want, but they'll inevitably fail early in the conference tourney. At least we are the bigger fans and don't complain that the only reason we lost is because of where the game is played.
