Absolutely sickening.....might as well not even attempt free throws when awarded them It was the defense that cost them. Stanford shot over 50%. Carrington Love was simply awesome, hats off to him.

Too many fouls. Linc did a good job of in-game management with Love to keep him in the game at the end.
This game was very close and Stanford hit in the OT.
Difference in the game was the fouls/FT.
Good news: Love 32, Cooper 19.
Big road trip - far from home. This will improve. Be optimistic.
FSC stunk in their opener today against a decent team. They need to play better tomorrow.

Uhhhh....defense was solid the whole time minus the last 5 minutes of regulation. The free throws were a constant embarrassment, how can a d1 player have no chance of making one, I simply don't understand. Lowe and Fouse looked god awful except for a few Fouse rebounds....I don't even know anymore....

Fouse had all off season to improve on offensive an I will toke this up as an off night....but 1-13...c'mon man... he will stuff the stat sheet but needs to be a 3rd piece to the offense to this team whoever ends up being the top two scorers. I am encourage by the fight but tough to lose a game up ten at half. Great game CLove. On to ETSU. Hope the guys enjoy there 330am breakfast meal and come ready to play.

Not sure what game you watched but Green Bay shot 68% from the line, which is about average, while Stanford shot 59% from the line. Green Bay allowed Stanford to shoot 52% from the floor, and fouled 35 times. That's absolutely dreadful defense. Stanford solved the full court press, as D1 teams will do, and Green Bay then got destroyed in the half court game.

Did it not bother you that on multiple occasions we were shooting three at the line and missed all three? And some of Stanfords shots were pure luck, especially towards the end. The fouls called were absolutely mind boggling 90% of the time as well. At some point the defense can only do so much, they played well for a good part of the game, but Stanford got hot and we couldn't put the ball in the hoop for stretches. There were a lot of things wrong with this game, but there is no way that anyone can say that it wasn't free throw shooting that ultimately killed us.

Congratulations to team for a great game vs. Stanford. Some observations:
Someone mentioned that Stanford was missing some players. They were missing 2 with 1 of those out for the season. One who was suppose to be out actually played. But that does not mean they are hurting for talent for a high major vs. a low/mid major team. They have a McDonald's All American in Travis.....GB has none of course......they recruit nationally with their high academic ranking and in a Power Conf.....most of their players were top 50 or top 100 coming out of high school. Their freshman class was ranked 22nd in the country. So while they had a couple players out, the rest of their players were much higher ranked coming out of high school than our's. Lets also remember Stanford won the post season NIT last March.....GB lost their first game. Both lost 3 starters.
We shot 68% FT. That is about the average for a college team. Yes, we missed some at a critical time but cannot fault Love for his 3 misses as he had a fantastic overall game.
We had 35 fouls called against us.....many more the second half than first half....but that is why the Power conferences pay guarantees for these games....to play at home. Sure the PAC12 officials know they are not going to be calling Horizon League games in the future. Did Fouse really charge at end of regulation? Thought we did a great job in OT with 3 players fouled out, 2 of our top rebounders.
We gave up 93 points in OT but only 74 in regulation. With an uptempo style, there are going to be more possessions, thus more points scored for both teams. Not sure points allowed and FG % only way to judge defense. We forced a team who was the leader in PAC12 last year in fewest turnovers into 21 TO getting several key steals. We had 17 TO which is not bad for first game for a new style of play. Learning a pressing defense, for the first game we did well. Could we have run the shot clock down each possession and lost 45-60......probably.
Power Conferences.....and mid majors like Wichita State & Gonzaga plus the Big East.....all go by charter planes to and from games. Low/mid major colleges fly commercially which means you have to bus to airports which offer cheaper airfares and have stop overs and delays if flights are not on schedule. It took our team all day Thursday to get to Stanford from GB and will spend all day on Saturday getting back home, losing valuable practice and academic time. This is just the way of life at low/mid majors over Power Conferences but it does make a difference. Again that is why Power conferences pay guarantees so they can stay at home.
In summary, thought our team did a great job last night and we should all be proud of their effort. We kept coming back at end of regulation and overtime. A mark of a team that will be fun to watch.

Supporter has a good read on it. This is chapter one of a new book for Nix Basketball. I was impressed with what I saw last night. There's a lot to build on. I want to see what level the team is at when conference play begins.

We are still being haunted by Wardles Recruiting. For example the free throw shooting last night. Need to attract more shooters, can always just have two guys on the floor who can shoot from the outside. Hopefully these new freshman twins are shooters and not just strictly players who drive to the bucket. Overall I'm impressed from last night. Let's keep it up Tuesday morning!

It is tough to win on the road at a major. Given all the change, I am very pleased with this game as a first effort.
As is often the case on the road, the fouls were a bit lopsided.
The fact that they were in a position to win was a surprise to me.

Although the end of regulation and OT was maddening to watch after having a 10 pt. lead at halftime, this (dare I say) a moral victory for this team. I thought GB would get blasted by 20-25 points; I was shocked at the first half performance and although their defense was dreadful in the second half, they had their opportunities to control this game. Hope they can steal a couple on the road before their home opener.
I also hope this is the team we get this season (with a few more wins than expected) and not become schizophrenic all season.....Based on the game versus Stanford, losing to teams like EIU, SIU-E, or Toledo, would now seem like a major disappointment.
Is it me, or does Lowe look like he is lumbering every time he makes a move in the post? You almost want to dub in the sound effects from the Six Million Dollar Man when Lowe gets the ball. If we keep getting little production from him as a starter, it would be better to start Kanter instead.

In all seriousness, Lowe once again failed as an excuse for a D1 player. Kanter was obviously the better big man and should be allocated minutes accordingly. I am dead serious when I say that Lowe could not have started at SNC the past two years.

It should be noted that Wardle's recruits shot 9-18 (50%) from 3 point range versus Stanford. Not exactly hauntingly scary.
