Hey so there is a game on Saturday at 1pm. It will be the first chance to see the new regime in action. It doesn't seem like video or audio is available online, perhaps someone else in the know can correct me if I am wrong.

Knightlife you go to the Nix game and post info here. It's your way of giving to those of us who live half way across the country. Thank you for your service. ;-)

I second this sentiment.
When you post do it in two parts: Part 1) Facts and Part 2) Opinions/Commentary. It will read better if you can keep the two separate. Hopefully there will be a box score available somewhere that will supply most of the facts. If you can go, give me a readout on how p.o.'ed Linc gets at his worst and what brought it out.

FSC played their exhibition against Duke tonight. That went about as well as you all are thinking it went. (I had an audio only feed plus live stats for the game. I'm glad I didn't pay $10 for the video feed.) Hopefully they will digest the game and let it go - then work on what they need to work on. Syracuse coming up next week. That couldn't go any worse.
I need to flush that game out of my system. I hoped the Heat/Cavs game would do it, but no - the Heat lost. (Don't like LBJ!) Now on to Warriors/Rockets and this game is as great as you might think it is. (Do like Steph Curry!) Early season game being played like it is a 7th game. Nice!

I don't know, I've been clamoring to watch my Knights beat Lawrence by at least 80 (yes, they actually beat them 84-0) a few years back), but considering that it's going to be terrible weather, I'll probably opt for the Nix.

UPDATE FROM THE GAME:
Well I wanted to slide out so I could catch the rest of my SNC game, but here was my impression of the first half of the NIX.
SLOOOOOWWW start..... For about the first five minutes of play, I saw nothing resembling coherent offense from either team. The Phoenix got bogged down at times looking for shots on the perimeter, and when they would dump it inside, they had a hard time finishing. Eventually the offense got going as the first half wore on and we went on almost a 20 to nothing run. Much of this was due to incredibly stellar defense. Granted they were playing the dumpster fire of D3, but the full-court press was impressive. Guys were quick to jump on forced passes and were usually converted for easy lay-ins. The biggest shocker: ZERO THREES! We maybe attempted five threes the whole half and most of them were downright terrible shots, despite usually being open on the wing, Carrington especially botched one with an air ball. We did however get to the line a ton. I believe we were in the bonus within the first 6 or 7 minutes of play. However, the same story of the past applied. NO ONE COULD MAKE A DAMN FREE THROW. Stuff like this is going to kill us down the stretch. One of the only positive things I'll say about Lowe all year was he finally lost that shimmy before his shot...thank god. Eventually, guys like Small, Cooper and Botz were finishing around the rack which spurred our run. The offense needs to be a lot more cohesive if we are going to be effective this year. On the defensive side, I have few complaints. Small was a rebounding GIANT. The guy had some of the most impressive rebounds I've seen, even better than some that Sykes had. This dude has hops, I wish he would've got to showcase himself more last year. The press was good and I think we will be tough to get cheap buckets on. Score at the half Phoenix 45-Stout 17?
As far as my opinions go, I really think Small is going to carry us this year. The guy was all over the court, making one handed rebounds in traffic, having nice touch on his shot and really finishing well around the rim. Cooper also impressed me quite a bit too. Had some bad shots early but he started to make some defensive plays that really got us going. Anthony Brown was the most impressive of the twins. Had some great rebounds and some great steals. The guys is like a water spider, reminds me of TJ Ford. It will be fun to see him progress in the future. I didn't get much of a chance to see Hurdle but he looks like a physical force. Lowe was his same old self, looking uncoordinated and sloppy on defense, but hey, he had like two dunks. Kanter and Hendo played pretty well. Hendo looked lost at times but he had a monster block and Kanter looked good on both sides of the ball. Findlay, whose jersey I was sporting, played really well too. He had a poor drive to the lane on one possession but he looked solid every where else, certainly deserves more minutes this year for the gym rat that he is. The starting lineup was Botz, Small, Cooper, Lowe and Love. I really hope to see this change to Small, Cooper, Love, Fouse and Kanter. Everyone got a good amount of time and they are going to need all hands on deck this year. No more of the Wardle BS of only playing his 6 or 7 pets. Guys are going to get tired and everyone will have to contribute. Also, the video board is phenomenal, this was a necessary upgrade and it makes the Resch feel way more on par with other big arenas. The intro highlight video leaves things to be desired, last years was way better, its to the tune of "Going down for real".
Overall, good but not great. Was expecting more from the offense but the defense was impressive. I want to see more threes and just better offense in general. Also, Linc looked like a very put together guy, should be fun having him around. At least he wasn't making an ass of himself by jumping around and yelling on the sidelines like we have been seeing the past few years. Look forward to the Stanford game to see how this progresses.

I will also point out that my Knights scored more in their first half than the Nix, but good stuff from everyone.

Thank you very much for the update!
Sounds pretty much on track with where I thought they would be. As I've said all along its the DEFENSE that's the key to the whole thing. If that's working the easy stuff flows. Lot's of low hanging fruit to pick. They didn't need many 3's in a game like this - hopefully that will pick up. But overall easiest is best. So if that's penetration so be it. Which leads me to...
The other thing I have emphasized is FOUL SHOOTING. There's going to be a ton of it and they need to get that sorted. Not making foul shots will lose this team games. They need to be working on this DAILY!
As for Linc it sounds like nothing aggrieved him during the game and that is good. Linc's not a yeller. There are some yellers down here in the SSC and both my father and I are not good with that. That said, Linc will get excited, will toss his jacket or a towel, will use some foul language, but it's pretty well contained. He respects his players and does not abuse them. If a player does something dumb in a game Linc will pull 'im out and let 'im sit, but without the reaming many coaches will apply. Doesn't ride the officials that much during the game, either - at least not in a manner that will get him in trouble. The only bench "T" I can remember last year wasn't Linc.
On the other hand it's pretty easy to spot Mrs. Linc in the stands. She's a yeller! (As am I for that matter.) When you're in the crowd at a D2 game the yellers tend to stand out. Probably not so much at your games.
Thanks again! It was very nice of you to post so promptly!
If there's a link for a box score can somebody post it here? I can't find one.

Now I have found where that link is stashed - or at least one place! Thanks for the nudge!
And yes, it does look like the thing broke down in the second half. Hopefully they'll come back with an updated sheet when they can.
Observations:
FG% = 64.6% vs. 28.9% (You do that you don't need too many 3's.) TO = 7 vs. 21 REB = 30 vs. 19 FT% = 38.5% = BAD! PF = 8 vs. 17
Is there no roster limit or bench limit for a D3 team? I count 19 in the box score. They must have needed the bench extension! Was this a game or an open tryout for Stout?

Pretty funny! The real time stats have advanced to 1:26 remaining on the clock.
If it ever finishes updating I'll have to update my observations.
Where was Fouse for this game?

I listened to most of it and looked at the box score but without seeing it and given the level of competition I don't feel like I have anything to add to the discussion.
I know it costs money to stream the games but I feel like it is a missed opportunity to introduce as many people as possible to the Darner era. Especially with less than 1000 people there in person, they might as well have played a second "secret scrimmage" against a D1 team instead of this game if nobody was going to watch it.
I did enjoy the new format of highlights with quotes from Darner's press conference playing at the same time on the Phoenix website. With that said I am also a hoops junkie so I would also appreciate the whole press conference being available as well. It doesn't seem like it would take much effort to have both available.
