New reality of college basketball. Days of getting 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 contracts with majors are over. Glad they will continue the series but wish they could play every year.

I wonder if it's UWGB one year and UWM the other. Not meeting every year doesn't seem right. It's all about schedule now for major D1 I suppose.

I feel like GB dropped the ball not renewing the 8-Madison/2 Green Bay contract. Its an easy road trip to Madison and good recognition for the program to play on BTN all over the Midwest.10k fans for the game every 5 years when they barely get over 2k for a weekday game out of the Horizon League. Who knows when the next time the Nix will play a school from the power 5 conference( or even Big East, AAC, A10, MVC ect) again at the Resch.

I thought the prior deal wasn't great financially for GB. If GB gets 2500 fans for a game at home, instead of going to UW, for 4 years they still get the same 10,000 fans that the UW game draws and they don't have to wait for a big pay day every 5th year. The game itself was good for creating an atmosphere and leveling the playing field to give GB a chance to win so I could live with this agreement.
The new deal I don't like and screams two things. One, college basketball has evolved to the Power 5 never playing down on the road and I hate that. Second, GB needs money and taking 3 guarantee games with no return against an opponent that is inexpensive to travel to is good for the bottom line.

I agree it is good for the bottom line but with madison being a state school along with GB they should have at least played one game here. So to me this is BS. I used to quietly root for madison since it was a state school but that will no longer happen. I hope Marquette passes them and beats them down every year. Also, my hope is madison hires Gard and fails miserably.

I'll say it: this contract SUCKS! 3 road games, no way. We may get some money from it but Madison will make a lot more. They could play East Lansing and get a few people for revenue or fill most of their arena with GB and other State Schools. But then if it was home and away they might lose once in a while. I hope some day I can say Madison is the 4th best Basketball team in Wi.

GB and MKE should both get some balls and tell Bucky to shove those contracts up their goonhole. Can't do a 2-for-1? Oh well, we'll go somewhere else. You go pay some no-name school like Gardner-Webb to come in. Fact is, Wisconsin fans are more interested in intrastate mid-major games than out-of-state low-majors. If they don't want to give us a fair shake, that's fine. Let them play Campbell. I'd take a 2-for-1 with Cincinnati or Missouri any day of the week. Those games are out there, you've just got to be aggressive about getting them.

If UofW doesn't want to make a good contract with UWGB maybe Linc & Co. can work something real out with an INDIANA school.
Funny you should mention G-W. LaQuincy Rideau, a really good player from Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach, FL (a local school for me, state champions and a participant in this year's Dicks Tournament) ended up going to G-W. I felt really sorry for him - he's a much better player than that. (He might not be much of a student, however. I doubt he could make it at FSC.) I suspect half the teams in the Sunshine State Conference could beat the snot out of G-W.
