Tonight's game is on ESPNU, as it has become tradition. The only negative is it will be Dickie Simpkins doing the commentary. He's awful. Here's Rob Demovsky's preview and story about Green Bay huge contrast in home road splits.Huge game tonight. The team will be playing in front of it's biggest home crowd of the season, possibly twice as big as the previous largest. There is usually lots of prospective recruits at this game. The team played great 2 days ago and needs to build on the momentum.

Good promo tonight combined with a good opponent should equal a good crowd. I think Butler is primed for a loss in GB. Hopefully the guys come out focused. It might be easy for a young team to come off a big win and look past a team coming off a bad shooting game. Luckily that team is Butler and their reputation alone should have the guys focused and ready to go.
I will be at the Lakers vs Bucks game tonight but I can't wait to get home and see the game on my DVR (even with Simpkins who I agree is pretty rough on the color commentary). Even though he isn't smooth, Jim Chones is fun and one of the more entertaining color guys that covers mid level hoops. Does he do color anymore for ESPN and if so where is he for this game!?!?

Nice to see a good crowd today. I really enjoyed the last two games, I hope it carries over to the Milwaukee game.

"Wardle has plenty of athletes but lacks enough skilled players, and he apparently doesn't have players that fans are interested in seeing." Per one GB-Press Gazette Analyst.
Fans are not interested in:
Skilled 7-footer Alec Brown Crowd favorite Brennan Cougill Emergence of Keifer Sykes Alley-oop throw downs of Greg Mays 3 point shot of Kam Cerroni Hardnosed play of Daniel Turner Steve Bakers long range shot and hussel Athleticism of Josh Humphries
None of these players have more than 1 year of division 1 college basketball coming into this year, and each player we have seen good improvement from during the year.
============= GB-PG Quote of the Year
"there's no question the program could use some juice."
young team goes 9-1 at home and can't win on the road ?
based on history of college basketball that is often an issue with young teams. Some times you need to give a team time to grow. These are signs of something to be excited about, not saying "we need some juice".

The Miller Lite is flowing thru me: what a great win tonight!!! With that said
-How much fun was tonights game?! I heard people walking out saying that was money well spent and they cant wait to come to the game Saturday vs uwm
-Kiefer Sykes. That guy can just do it all, and there is not enough that can be said about him. Even as a freshman. Seriously how good is this kid going to be in 3 years? Unreal what he went through tonight and battled thru
-Brennan Cougill. Hits a huge three and then a huge two handed dunk plus gets the crowd of 5,820 into the game. I was getting frustrated early in the game with his shot selection, but he proved it and hit some big time shots. Good for you Brennan
-Alec Brown was solid down low, his post moves continue to get better. Cant wait to see a finished product in a couple years. He could be a star, potentially NBA

Great game. I love how Wardle was able to guide the team to strong finishes to close out the last 2 wins. -Interesting to see Aaron Armstead get minutes as a reserve PG the last 2 games. -Can Josh Humphrey become our version of Ron Nored? Both have broken jumpshots, but really help their teams with their ball security, passing, rebounding, and defense. -Butler's Woods has a bright future, but you can help your team fouling out in 8 minutes of play. -Is there 2 more disappointing HL players this year than Khyle Marshall and Andrew Smith? -Great to see a big crowd. With a huge crowd for the UWM game, GB could be on track to improve there attendace from a year ago. Hard to believe considering we played 2 home games versus D2 teams and host a bracketbuster game. Bracketbusters always draw poorly. -Pulaski's Cody Wichman and Little Chute's Turner Botz were at this game. Here Rob Demovsky's game story. Here's Andrew Gavin's game recap, which includes links for video highlights and postgame press conference. box score

Man I hated to miss this game. But I had tickets to LA since June. I have friends that have two children that went to Butler and they like to show their GB fans except when we play the Bulldogs. Finally some payback for the last 5 or so years. Loved looking up the score on the internet and seeing the final. Son-in-law had texted we were up by 1 at half, but didn't send me the final? Well it seems like were finally on that roll, hope it carries over to the away games. But if we make the FT's and play like we've been playing the road wins should come. Can't wait for the Panthers Saturday. Brian and the team seem to be maturing at the right time. GO PHOENIX.

Right now I have to say that I don't like Aaron Armstead in the backup PG position. I know he scored a bit but it just seems like the ball doesn't move and he has some turnover issues.
Butler really locked down on Cerroni but he stayed with it and made a few big plays.
This game really showed the versatility of this GB team. You can't take away everything as a defenese. In this game GB made great adjustments and exploited what Butler gave them.
Butler looks young and talented and some of their talent has more experience (hopkins/marshall) yet doesn't look as promising as what GB has to offer.

Butler looks young and talented and some of their talent has more experience (hopkins/marshall) yet doesn't look as promising as what GB has to offer. Agreed. The fact that Sykes and Brown have turned out better than highly rated recruits Marshall and Jackson really swings things in our favor. I think Hopkins, Woods, and Smeathers will develop into really solid players, but so will Armstead, Mays, and Cole Stefan. Cerroni has been solid since becoming a starter. Roosevelt Jones will be a load to deal with the next 3 years, especially if he develops a jumper. I expect these two teams to dominate the conference in 2 years. Both will be very good next year, along with Valpo and YSU. The HL is down this year, but could break into the RPI top 10 next year. Right now I have to say that I don't like Aaron Armstead in the backup PG position. I know he scored a bit but it just seems like the ball doesn't move and he has some turnover issues. I wonder if the experiment is related to their scholarship situation. They had been trying to add a 3rd PG with their last 2012 scholarship, but it seems like things have been quiet lately. Could Jarvis Williams be headed towards a medical RS? He is still sporting a walking boot, and added crutches this weekend. If he stays, we have no more openings this year to add a PG. Not a big deal if AA can handle the role. I would like to see them add a preferred walk-on PG if they don't add a scholarship PG. I think ND St offered Germantown's Josh Mongan a preferred walk-on spot, he would be a good fit for us.

I like the potential of GB's underclassmen, but your statement clearly indicates you do not follow Butler basketball.

If Butler's young talent is so great, or if they don't need talent to win, care to explain why they didn't put up a fight Saturday? Nored is the only player playing well for them, and he's a senior.

My response refers more to the big picture and the comment about Butler "doesn't look as promising as UWGB", and was not based on Saturday night alone, or even this season.

Green Bay's troubles with attendance are a testament to just how long and wide a shadow the Packers cast over the rest of the state - as it is with real shadows, the effect is much larger the closer it is to the caster.
We watched the replay...I really hope Kiefer Sykes' noggin is OK. It did not look good.
