Green Bay's troubles with attendance are a testament to just how long and wide a shadow the Packers cast over the rest of the state - as it is with real shadows, the effect is much larger the closer it is to the caster. We watched the replay...I really hope Kiefer Sykes' noggin is OK. It did not look good. Green Bay's troubles with attendance are due to the program being mediocre for so long. No one wants to get excited just to see the team fizzle out at the end of the year. Or get really excited about young players just to see them hit a ceiling their sophomore year and never quite reach their potential. I call it the Tod Kowalczuk syndrome.

I seldom agree with Black Panther, but it is easy to see each and every year the attendance picks up after the Packers have completed their season. The best attendance years often coincide with years the Packers did not make the playoffs. The number of Saturday games and whether or not we have a marquee opponent (Wisconsin). With games against Marquette and Virginia coming up in future years I expect increases in attendance. Often the concern about attendance is raised part way through the season before games against Milwaukee and Butler that always draw well. Milwaukee attendance is impacted by the Packers and Badger football schedules as well.
