I've been a season ticket holder since back in the tony bennett days, and so far this is the most Athletic UWGB team ive ever seen. They had the team last year but injuries in the end cost us. With McKinnie heathly with Sykes in control, great things are gonna happen this year!!!!

This is the most athletic and deepest Nix team in school history. Whether it will be the most successful team is another discussion. Dick Bennett got more out of any team than I have ever seen. They played smart and with passion. In terms of overall talent and athleticism none of his teams would have compared with the teams of this season and last. This is not a knock against Wardle or his players. The jury is still out and the challenge is on the table. Sports fans in the Green Bay area are short changing themselves if they don't come out to see the Phoenix. I think this version of the Nix is better than the 2013-14 squad and has the potential to be the most successful in school history. That said it will take some growing and luck.

I too think this is the most athletic of any Phoenix team. Also a season ticket holder since Dick arrived in GB. Like it was said above Dick got 5 people to play unselfish and like a well oiled machine. A case of the whole being better than the parts. Dick always said he broke them down until the ego was gone and then built them back up as a team player. Ask Jeff Noorgard about his freshman season. He thought he was always in the dog house. I always thought Dick would be bald because he appeared to be pulling his hair out when he pulled a player. He was always very animated during a game lol.
This team is capable of being the best ever if they can continue the year having each others backs. Yesterday was a prime example of how good they can be. A team plays box and one on Keifer and he doesn't score but uses his other talents by dishing off and rebounding. Not many stars are that unselfish or disciplined . We had 3 players score in double figures and one isn't named Sykes. Did anyone ever think we could win a game with Keifer scoring 5 pts. If they continue to grow as a team they could make some noise at the end of the season. They also could regress to the one on one undisciplined play we saw in a couple of our losses? Our one bad phase of the game is FT's and that does have to be fixed or we'll lose a close game at a bad time!
Our tough defense really drives our offense! This is truely an under rated part of the team.

The Bennett teams were built differently. Their best teams had some incredible deadeye shooters in Tony Bennett and Jeff Nordgaard. Nordgaard did his damage inside the 3 point line and Bennett did his from beyond 3 where he had the best pct. in the history of college basketball (still does).
From a pure running and jumping standpoint, the teams the last couple years are a cut above those Bennett teams. They aren't necessarily better teams, but just from a pure athletic standpoint, no question they are more physically gifted.
For this year's team to take the next step, they need to stay healthy and McKinnie and Love need to continue their strong play. McKinnie in particular is the most gifted player from an offensive standpoint other than Sykes. He's got a great looking shooting stroke, and we're finally starting to see his athleticism come back after the injuries. I think his health and strong play is a key for the rest of the year.

I am not concerned about whether it is the most athletic team ever, but would like it to be the most accomplished when all is said and done. Although, I have to admit I do enjoy the high flying dunks quite a bit. I stated a while ago that this season is NCAA tourney or bust for me. They have the parts in place to do it this year.
