From Rob D: Sophomore forward Daniel Turner tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in Saturday's 90-87 loss at Valparaiso and will miss the rest of the season.
Coach Brian Wardle said today that Turner will have reconstructive surgery in about three weeks. Assuming the surgery goes well, Turner could be back in time for next season's fall workouts, which begin in September.
Turner will not be eligible for a redshirt year because he played in all 14 of UWGB's games this season. It also means the Phoenix (6-8 overall, 2-2 Horizon League) will be without two of their top returning players from last season. They've already been without senior forward Jarvis Williams, who has missed the last month because of a stress fracture in his foot. Link to articleTerrible news. Get well soon, Daniel

I feel terrible for Daniel. He's a real warrior. He got hurt doing what he does best, grabbing an offensive rebound.
They seem to be hoping he's back for next year, but that seems to be an aggressive time table. He, and the team, might be better served if he redshirts n ext season. What kind of year would he have with no offseason and with the knee holding him back?
Next man in, who gets the call? I'm guessing Heuer gets a shot. Mays has starting getting some minutes recently, and his upside is huge, but he doesn't seem quite ready for primetime yet.

Tough loss for GB and tough break for Daniel. He plays so hard and gets his hands on a lot of balls. Still couldn't finish at the rim very well but just seems like the kind of guy that winning teams need. By far was having his best game at Valpo. I agree that time frame seems tight to return next year.
As for his minutes I would think they would go to Armstead and Mays. Mays is the kind of guy that doesn't look ready but just like Sykes and Armstead have had breakout games, I expect Mays could do the same. Also, puts some pressure on Heuer and Humphrey to be ready although I am not sure they will get any clock just yet.
