This starts a very tough 3 game road stretch. I hope we can steal one of the 3, but we aren't sunk if we don't. Butler has been inconsistant, hopefully they come out complacent after a big win at Stanford. It's very cool this one is on TV. Here's preview's from Brian Dickmann, Rob Demovsky, and Green Bay Athletics.

Butler is a 8.5 point favorite. Sounds about right

Nix up 14-8 early. Don't forget about Time Warners Sports HD channel.

Nix up 21-11 fifteen minutes in. They've held Butler to 4-23 shooting.

Butler get ultra-physical and gets back in the game, but the Nix regroup and score the final 4 of the half to lead 25-21.

New drinking game: take a drink every time GB misses a layup or a put back.

Interesting to hear that Sykes turns 18 tomorrow. IIRC, Alex Brown is extremely young for his age also.
GB needs a win against the Dogs tonite or at the end of January, as they will be awfully tough to beat next year.

Andrew Smith hits a back breaking 3 to put Butler up 5 with 5 to play.

Tough, tough loss. I think it will be a great game in Green Bay, with the Nix winning. The defense is there. It might be Sykes birthday tomorrow, but I think I aged 2 years tonight.

He looked outstanding tonight, 25 solid minutes. He had great quickness and was pretty explosive. Hopefully he can work on his free throw shooting in the offseason.

box scoreI'm still reeling from last night's opportunity lost. I agree that Sykes really had some great highlights. He's going to be special. He looked much more impressive than Butler's freshman PG Aldridge Jackson, who had an ESPN grade of 91. Smeathers and Woods will be very good players for Butler, their recruiting is impressive. Yet it was senior Ron Nored who beat us. Gut-wrenching game. The killer was Butler's long possession where GB forced 2 misses but Butler missed so badly it caused long rebounds, which is an advantage to the offense. It would have been great if Stigall was called for his blatant travel on the 1st rebound. Hopefully the Phoenix can get back up and bring this same defensive effort tomorrow against Valpo. Combine that with a hot 3 point shooter and we could win.

Tough loss for GB but they played hard and defended well. A few breaks go their way at the end and maybe they pull this thing out. Ronald Nored was a complete difference maker in this game, without him it looks like a GB win. Going forward I think both teams have young talent but the GB guards seem to have a much higher ceiling.
