Any word on if the Phoenix are practicing this week in hopes of a CBI bid? UC-San Diego accepted a bid, but still 15 spots up for grabs. Looking at Happeninghoops.com, Green Bay is not included (only Youngstown is of teams from the Horizon), but thinking the storyline with the turnaround from 3-29, they might be able to leap some teams that may decline a bid and find their way to beautiful Daytona Beach.
Thesourcenexus.com does have Green Bay in the field, along with Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Uwgb was the 3 seed tin horizon league tournament I hope uwgb would before IPFW? I didn’t think uwgb would be in the running for one. But Youngstown state didn’t make it any farther in the tournament then uwgb so I don’t get why not if enough teams decline? But maybe like Noah’s health? Would come into play? When in 2017 are cbi run was awesome to be apart of and every time I was hoping it would be a home game since I didn’t travel. Made it to cbi championship game. Sandy cohen and pj pipes. Ballers. Noah would put on a show.

I don’t see a scenario where gb gets in. UWM honestly is more deserving as much as I hate to say it. Beat us twice and same amount of wins and made the title game.
I used to like extra basketball with these second and third tier tournaments but honestly I’m over them.
At least in the NIT you had the potential to play a power six school at home or a team you’d never face.
CBI is just going to be flooded with teams you can and do schedule in the non conference. They also play on a neutral site now so it’s not like they will earn ticket and concession sales from it.
I’m pretty sure they have to pay to play too which with a program tight on funds i don’t see the value in it.
I’d rather take that money and stick it into recruiting. I also want this team to have a sour taste in their mouths to end the year to motivate them for next year.

Also worth noting that only the CBI semis and championship are on ESPN, everything else is on Flohoops which I believe is like $30 a month. While I wouldn’t mind seeing more Phoenix games, I likely wouldn’t see them anyway cause I’m not paying for that.

UC San Diego is more than 100 spots better than GB in the NET rankings and KenPom. I don’t think any team 200+ in those rankings should be playing in the postseason.
YSU probably deserves a bid if they want to keep playing. I don’t think any other HL team deserves a bid IMO.
I know it’s not an either/or but I’d rather they do a preseason foreign trip next season instead of a postseason event this year. It’s been awhile since they’ve done one and could be a nice recruiting carrot to dangle as well as an opportunity for the team to gel and hit the ground running next season.

With all of the sub .500 school that got into the CBI, including Chicago State, my guess is that GB turned them down.

The time would be better spent securing the roster and recruiting.

I don’t think anyone will be upset with GB not playing in the CBI, especially with how disappointing the final few weeks of the season were. There are much better ways to utilize that money.
