A couple of huge challenges for the Phoenix tomorrow night. First, just be healthy. Noah Reynolds was out with the flu, we need him back, and for everyone else to avoid the bug. Tough to do in a team setting.
Second, have everyone available to prep for Northern Kentucky's zone defense. Zone is tough for the Phoenix, as it takes away their biggest offensive strength, attacking off the dribble. Green Bay shot terribly at Northern Kentucky, but was playing without 3 point marksman DJ Douglass.
It'll be interesting to see what the crowd is like. Valentines Day may be a tough draw, but the team has created a serious buzz with the way they beat YSU.

I’ll be happy if they get over 6K at the Resch.

I’ll be happy if they get over 6K at the Resch. Sure, but it's a Wednesday, not a Saturday. They'll be lucky to get 3,500, and in today's live action challenge, that will be good.

I’ll be happy if they get over 6K at the Resch. I love the enthusiasm but absolutely no way we get close to 6k tonight. It doesn’t appear tickets are selling as fast as they did for the Oakland game which saw 3500. With it being Valentine’s Day and a threat of snow at the end of the game, I bet we see a disappointing crowd tonight. Hope I’m wrong. Either way I will be bringing 4 other people tonight! Go Phoenix

GB historically does a decent walk up crowd when they have a good team. I hope that is the case tonight.
I'm expecting them to have a much better game against NKU than we saw them play on the road.

Hope Coach Wicks had a similar Nick Saban-like ‘Rat Poison’ message for the team after the win at YSU. They need to close these last 3 home games of the season strong and keep that lead.

Points are hard to come by in the first half, shots just not falling for the Phoenix despite getting good looks. The good news is they’re playing great defense and rebounding well. Jones with 10 boards at the half. Cummings, Douglas, and Wade all standing out on defense but it’s truly been a great team effort. The shots will likely begin to fall, if they can keep up the solid D and smart play I like our chances.

GB loses 58-57. We seem to have a problem with that zone NKU likes to run. Better than the earlier meeting but we could not score. Hope this loss helps get the team refocused as we dont have any games this weekend. Noah looked ok but I’m sure he wasn’t at 100% either coming off the flu this weekend.

The team played terrific defense but the threes were not falling. There were good looks but just wasn't their day. The old adage about living by the three certainly applies here.

The Phoenix just don’t have a player in their rotation that really wants the ball in the key. They’re able to get some driving penetration, but I think we probably go entire games without having an entry pass into the post. It can be difficult to beat that type of zone without getting the ball down low to stress the defense and force them to collapse a little. With that said, they’re obviously figuring out ways to win a lot of games with the talent and skillset they have, but that’s a gap that limits what they’re able to do and they’ve paid for it twice now NKU.
On the next one. We’ve given up some ground in the standings, but just need to continue to do what we do best against some good teams to close out the conference season.

Looked like Noah completely ran out of gas the last 2 minutes. He hasn't practiced all week. Rough. The team still controls their own destiny.

Biggest disappointment is crowd.
Valentines Day. Does the athletic department not have some type of sponsorship they could tie in to promote this? Wednesday night. Minimal high school basketball. Just poor all around. Could have used one of the end zones for couples.
I thought the officiating was shitty. Hand check call late when Northern has forearms and two hands on every drive. They were much more aggressive on defense than Green Bay yet foul difference wasn't much different. Jones picked up two BS calls.
Green Bay needs an athletic 5. That's where the lopsided difference was. Eames and Byhre were non-existent.
On the floor biggest disappointment was easy dunks for Itejere. Career 50% free throw shooter at Marquette and Northern. Use those fouls by the bigs and make him earn it.
Good fight by the Phoenix just way too many empty possessions down the stretch and off balance 3s as shot clock was going down.

I would guess they draw another 1500-2000 if this game is played today. I know a lot goes into scheduling that we don’t see. But this game was competing with Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday. No offense, but is someone’s wife going to want to go to a nice dinner or a gb game on Valentine’s Day? Let’s use our brains horizon league.

This is on the Horizon League and their poor scheduling. GB didn’t schedule this game. All in all we didn’t shoot well enough to win. Had ample opportunities. Not our night. Big 4 games ahead!

The Horizon League has alienated fans for so long that there are barely any left. Everyone had smaller crowds last night in the league.
With the way they do the schedule they unfortunately couldn't make a shift because UWM and OU played on the road last night and now are home on Saturday. However, that is directly related to the overall new philosophy this year.
As for the game, they didn't shoot very well. They played solid D but didn't make shots that seemed open enough. Down the stretch the ball stopped moving and guys were put in tough spots because of it.
I thought GB didn't get an equal whistle in some big moments which makes the loss feel worse.
