The game is at 4pm on ESPN3.
I know that PFW isn't that big and likes to shoot a lot of 3's. They are also coming into the weekend with a little momentum having swept UIC and UWM on back to back weekends.
Their leading scorer and play maker is Jarred Godfrey. He is tall and smooth. Also, unlike a lot of other lead guards around the league he isn't a ball hog.
Anyway, lots of 3's means lots of rebounds. GB better be all over the glass or its going to be a tough day.

Blowout victory for the Phoenix. Ansong is really getting comfortable here, his springs on the glass are a huge boost. Really good victory over a hot team.

Big time performance tonight from the Nix
Ansong impressed me the most. With possibility still two years left to play after this one, he could be a real threat.
PJ Pipes only played 17 minutes tonight so he should be well rested tomorrow to get it done again!
Have to run it back tomorrow and get the sweep! Let’s go!

A nice no-doubter victory is just what was needed to cleanse the palate after the disappointing sweep last weekend.
Ansong is really blossoming into a solid player. GB needed a guy that attacks the glass and Manny is that guy, 5 offensive rebounds tonight is great. He’s super athletic too so he can attack the rim and we saw a few highlight reel dunks from him tonight as well.
Also, fantastic job by the (much maligned) GB defense holding the #1 three point shooting team in the country to 22% (4/18) tonight. Obviously a lot of that was PFW just being ice cold but I thought GB did a much better job of extending their defense out a bit and was better at closing out on shooters not allowing as many open looks.
Great win and let’s go get another one tomorrow!

On a night when he wasn't really clicking offensively, Amari Davis earned 33 minutes with his defensive effort, which included 5 steals and a block.

I wouldn't say they were totally in control the whole game but close to it. Over the last 33 minutes of the game it never felt in doubt. That is a credit to the whole team as any time PFW ramped up the intensity or started to string some stops together GB didn't fold. They pushed back and extended the lead to a comfortable margin.
It was good to see GB win the rebounding margin. It was good to see them get some easy in hoops in transition. Also, it was good to see some of the big guys all have moments when they impacted the game.
Time to do it again today.

It was nice to see them finishing those transitions too, we have wasted too many run outs in the past.

One other thought, I hope it is not the kiss of death for him based on my posts in the UDM thread, regarding Jacob Jones.
Yes it was only a minute of action in a game that wasn't in doubt but he came in and made a nice dish to Cem in the post, stayed in front of his man to contest a mid range jumper and was part of the pesky D that led to a run out for Schaefer. That was a seemingly much improved minute since he last played. I would be curious to see what he could do if the opportunity for extended minutes presented itself in future games.

On a night when he wasn't really clicking offensively, Amari Davis earned 33 minutes with his defensive effort, which included 5 steals and a block. One thing that isn't being mentioned is the jump Amari has had on defense. He has been tasked with guarding the best guard on the other team a lot. That would have never been the case in his freshman year. He is really working on that end and should be commended for his improvement. By comparison watch who Godfrey guards on defense for much of the game, it was often the guard to be deemed the least threat. I know Amari is in a shooting slump right now but he hasn't let that impact his effort on defense which is awesome to see. The term making him a complete player has been thrown around a lot and most people use it in reference to improving his 3 point shooting. I think his defense and accepting of getting tough matchups is his biggest stride towards becoming a complete player. Keep up the good work!!
