Wardle playing for a title tomorrow. So much for his heat. I am torn. I don’t want to see him get there because he couldn’t get gb over the hump but he isn’t a prick like coach K was.

FYI, Kowalczyk's Toledo team has a 25 win season going into their conference tournament.

Wardle- best overall recruiter of the three Kowalczyk- best in state recruiter Darner- has brought in the best JUCO talent of the three
I want to see Wardle and Bradley in. Would love to see Toledo knock off Buffalo and get another mid major in the dance too instead of some 15 loss P6 school. Not going to let the painful misses those guys had in GB keep me from rooting for them.

Also wasn’t evanachko a juco? He was better than anyone linc has gotten. Mendaboru was also a gem.

Evanachko was from a high school in Pennsylvania. He was a two guard who was not a natural point and that was a problem. Mendaburu was one of the most interesting players to ever wear a Nix uniform. I always wondered what Bennett could have done with him.
I'll be cheer for K and Wardle to reach the brass ring.

Certainly the last 2 years under Wardle were some of GB's best teams historically and I'll always think highly of what he did those seasons.
To me there were 2 issues with Wardle. First was the player abuse allegation. He sounded like he took things too far in his motivational techniques. In fairness to him, once those surfaced, it seemed like he learned from it and nothing of that nature happened again. Secondly, the guy just seemed to have a huge problem finding a pure shooting guard. I think Sultan Muhammad could have been that guy in 2013-2014 but for some reason he left the program before that season began.
That was the one weakness that kept them from further success. Carrington Love did the best he could as a 2 guard, but he really was a PG who was forced to play out of position. He blossomed once Sykes left and moved back to his natural spot under Linc Darner.

Congrats to Wardle. Definitely deserves this. It must have been pretty hard for him to watch his former team make the ncaa tourney the year after he left (with far less talent), you could tell how much this meant to him. Good for him.

Can’t say I’m gonna root for the guy.

Wardle and Kowalczyk doing well is good for GB. Someday we will be hiring a new coach. Hopefully because Darner had immense success. Anyway, it is important for perspective hires to see you can win at GB and go on to good opportunities and do well from there.
Plus in my limited interaction with Brian he was enjoyable to be around.

His contract runs through 2200 season. Hats off to both former GB coaches -- both have grown over the years.
