It’s too bad we have zero media presence or coverage for this team. If this was Wisconsin or Marquette the reporters would be critical of linc for refusing to play fourty minutes of hell when it clearly works. This team can’t play half court defense to save their lives so who cares if they give up layups pressing? Better than the 20 3s they allow a game now. When Linc came here he promised rentless pressure for 40 minutes. He is looking more and more like a politician cause I’ve yet to see a single game where they’ve done that in his four years here. Getting fed up. These kind of losses are unacceptable to a team as poor as Detroit home or away. These are the kind of losses why gb will be lucky to draw 3000 for a single game this year. Which brings me to my next point. Why are the cheapest tickets at the Kress or Resch 12 bucks? They should be charging five bucks until they can draw 3500 consistently. Families want cheap entertainment. The middle paragraph is spot on. Absolutely no defense.

Families want cheap entertainment. 1. There is no one in the local media competent enough to cover it. Demovsky would barely cover us even before his fallout with the whole Wardle thing. One of my buddies works for a local TV station and he said that earlier in the year one of the guys who works for the sports segment asked if Keifer was still on the team, so there you go... 2. I'm not even being facetious, play the Grinnell system. Full line changes, get off two shots every 13 seconds, even if that means conceding a layup. You're right, it's really not much different than what we see now. Granted, the last two games, the opponents were shooting lights out even on difficult shots, but if it happens consistently, it might be us. 3. The ticket prices are too high, and seem to arbitrarily change as well. I was home for the last week so I caught both games. Thursday night, cheapest seat was $13 and on Saturday it was $11. Explain that one?

First time I've turned off a game in years, I even stuck out the Michigan State one this year. I don't like being negative and dwelling on one game, but this was quite bad.
What is our offense? Quickly push across the half court line, then have Sandy dribble between his legs for 15 seconds while the other guys stand around, occasionally making a cut, then throw a pass to the corner or baseline and try to draw a foul? That's what I've seen lately. The first part of this game was ok when we had Tank in the zone-buster role, but I like Manny there better. I don't like Sandy bringing the ball up, have PJ or another guard do it. Sandy is too slow off the dribble to create his own shot consistently and makes a lot of errand passes. He can be a great player, but he needs to play off the ball more.
Our defense, is, well, bad. When teams shoot lights out on us occasionally, that's one thing, but when this happens nearly every game, its us. I'm not a defensive scheming aficionado, but something needs to change, I don't know exactly what, though.
Like I said, I hate dwelling on games, so its on to the next. I actually think we matchup better against Oakland than we do Detroit anyway. Plus, they just lost on their home floor to the dumpster fire that is the Shamthers, so we should have a very good shot at getting the W. Many games ahead of us, but a top 3 finish in conference is certainly not out of the question by any means. The league is weird, anyone can beat anyone this year and its anyone's guess as to who is going to the dance. We can be a good team and we can beat good teams, we just need to stop getting in these huge early deficits every game and cut down on the turnovers.

Bad losses always bring out over reactions so right now I am going to give you one.
Maybe RP 40 doesn’t work in Division One basketball?
Look at the defensive stats over the past 4 years. The stats don’t lie. How many times have we given up 90 plus points? Too many.
Wow it’s crazy too think we are 3-1. We really should be 0-4. Best teams in the conference are still too come too. Maybe we play up to the “top” teams?

Yes, this game was bad. But and at the end of the day we’re 3-1. If they beat Oakland (which they have a great chance to do) this suddenly becomes a decent road trip. Im trying to stay positive after this one.

If we can hold any opposing team to shooting under 40 percent from 3 point land then we have a shot. Simple as that.

Well that wasn't fun to watch, they were pretty out of the game with 16 minutes left in the first half. Yes they rallied from down 18 to 5 but that was short lived.
From my spot in the cheap seats I can say the things that stand out were getting out rebounded early. I felt like GB didn't have any size in the game and Detroit controlled the glass even though in the end GB had the numberical advantage. For example the first score for Detroit game after Blackshear offensive rebounded the ball twice.
I didn't think they did a bad job on Davis, he made really tough shots. The issue I have is they let other guys go nuts. McFolley is a nice player. There was one play that he was standing on the right wing in transition unguarded and buried a 3. The guy already had at least 20 points at that time...match up! Dude is wearing Jordan's number, the most iconic number in basketball currently, should be easy to find. They also didn't control his dribble drive.
Long had 7 points. At one point he drove 65 feet unguarded for a dunk. Another time on a base line out of bounds play he slipped to the hoop unguarded for a layup when his man helped on Davis who was coming to catch a pass beyond the 3 point line. The other play he stood in the corner unguarded and hit a 3. None of this should happen.
In the end I don't think they did a good job of even paying attention to the other players let alone controlling them...that shouldn't happen.
On offense that zone is different but GB was getting plenty of open looks, but they shot 23% from deep and had plenty of makeable shots. They also got a lot of looks on the baseline. A few guys weren't ready for the zone and got caught in the corners in made bad plays. I suppose experience will help. No offense to Bell for example but he tried to make a pass to Pipes out of the corner that McFolley took to the house. He had an easier pass available to McCloud that he didn't make. Now I don't know what they were coached to do, but I know that I prefer the easy pass and reset the offense instead of what happened.
I can't rip on Sandy too much. He doesn't hold the ball in their motion offense nearly as much as Small did. Plus he is a good and willing passer. The box score I see has him at 8 assists and 1 turnover last night. I do think guys stand around and watch him a bit too much which makes it harder for him.
In the end that sucked and yet like someone mentioned splitting this trip is still possible and still leaves them in the mix. I think for me it isn't losing a game that bothers me, it is how they lose some of these games that makes it hard to want to come back for more.

The inconsisteny of this team makes it hard to watch sometimes. This has been a problem of the Linc Darner era.

I almost forgot. While they didn't get burned by it every time, I thought jumping before you know where you are going to pass was flushed out of the system by 6th grade...

Right now, RP40 stands for the Relentless Pressure that's in my head watching this team for 40 minutes of inconsistency.
Looking back at those coaches we interviewed after BW left for Bradley, didn't we interview TJ Otzelberger, who now is doing great things at SDSU?

TJ Otzelberger has done a great job of recruiting Wisconsin kids out to SDSU. Would of been a big bonus here at Green Bay

TJ Otzelberger has done a great job of recruiting Wisconsin kids out to SDSU. Would of been a big bonus here at Green Bay Watch the game online last night, tough game! GB got off to a bad start in both half's, turnovers (19, ave 12 on the year) that lead to dunks on the other end, Detroit's top two guys shot unbelievable, Sandy & JayQuan (top two scores) didn't play well! Not sure I agree with Coach Otzelbeger has done a great job with recruiting Wisconsin kids. BTW Home record 7-1, Road record 3-4 Side note: Does't appear that they play any paid games on the road? I do know that they paid a few schools to play them at home. 16-17 Chris Howell 7pts gm Milwaukee Rufus King, Transferred from Butler CC 17-18 Chris Howell 4pts gm Transferred at the end of the season Dallas Polk-Hilliard Left after 5 gms Milwaukee, Cochise CC Brandon Key 6pt gm West Allis, Southwestern Tenn JC 18-19 Brandon Key Has not played, read an article that he will be a grad transfer at end of year. Alex Arians (red-shirted last yr) ave 5pt gm Ryan Krueger (red-shirted last yr) ave 2pt gm Alou Dillion (red-shirted last yr) ave 2pt gm South Dakota State also has the best mid-major player in the country Mike Daum. Daum is a hold over from the previous coach Scott Nagy
