Bringing in 5 Juco kids in one class better result in a couple of winning seasons the next two years. Will Linc go JUCO heavy again in two seasons when all of these guys graduate? Is this a quick fix for Linc to try to leave GB in two years?
Why hasn't GB even offered Skogman from Waukesha West?

He is an exciting looking prospect. Hopefully Tank contributes just as much as Terry Evans because he looks like that kind of player in that highlight video. While I don’t like that the roster currently has 7 players in the junior class I do like that they have upgraded the athletic ability and hopefully the defense and faster scoring will come with that. It was refreshing to see that the terminology RP40 is back.
As for Bains he never really looked comfortable in Green Bay even though he did play a fair amount. I wish him well. I wonder if he will show up at the games in Eastern Washington to cheer on his old team if he isn’t planning to play basketball anymore.

Every coach has his or her recruiting approach. Sometimes the approach has to change according to the school and the available talent pool. When I was in Tulsa back in the day -- Nolan Richardson was brought in to coach Tulsa University. He brought his entire JUCO national championship team with him. They won the NIT in Richardson's first season. The next season they made the NCAA Tournament. Recruiting really does changes from year to year. Last season Darner would have been well served to bring in more JUCOs instead of the crop of freshman. I'd look at the talent recruited this time around and say we're going to see an athletic, fast-paced team that will be fullcourt pressing on defense for the entire game. It should be fun to watch.
Bottom line JUCO is an under-recruited area these days. At Marquette, Buzz Williams was able to patch together some NCAA Tournament teams using JUCO talent.
I think Darner was blindsided last spring with the grad transfer of Kanter and the late transfer of Anderson to Wisconsin. A lesson learned? After that first season run to the NCAA Tournament Darner was somewhat snake bitten in season two and three -- untimely injuries and a massive rebuild using high school players. GB will be one of the better teams in the Horizon League for at least the next two seasons. When I was covering Richardson and the Golden Hurricane, he would talk about reloading. (new recruits) Darner just reloaded and let's look forward to seeing the results. I'm more optimistic than if we had to wait for a freshman-dominated team to develop.
Each season is a new puzzle for a coach to figure out. The same with recruiting cycles.

I would have preferred a transfer with so many available and a chance for a transfer to work with the team for a year. Even with that said, this recruit looks like a nice addition.

I think with all the transfers going on across the country, you will see more emphasis on JUCO and less redshirting of underclassmen. I would prefer a more balanced approach across classes, but the JUCO route is probably better than bringing in a freshman project. The higher ranked underclassmen are proving to be difficult to land. Some of them may be available on the rebound.

Dick Bennett's system could not work at GB in this era. He found a niche approach that worked in the 80s and 90s. These days Mid-majors can rarely afford to redshirt a young player for development purposes. I think for the Nix -- gettings transfers and JUCO players promises in most cases a better level of basketball ability.

These things always seem to balance themselves out but losing 7 guys in 2020 would be a tough pill to swallow. Besides NKU/WSU the Horizon League is for the taking and winning conference championship surely will help build the program and help out recruiting.
