What a way to start off the 2017-2018 basketball season. On July 19, 2017, UWGB Women's basketball team received the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll as number ONE with the accumulative GPA of 3.819. Totally awesome for the Women's basketball team to receive the number ONE GPA.

Another great Women's Basketball season commences with their 1st exhibition game tomorrow, October 26th against D3 UW-Whitewater at the Kress Center. This may be an exhibition game, but GB will be showcasing three new freshman along with 3 redshirt freshman. Coach Borseth will be facing the task of finding two new starters to play along side of LeClaire, Lindstrom and Wellnitz. GB plays their final exhibition game against D2 Michigan Tech on November 2nd in their final preparation to the start of the 2017-2018 season. GB plays their 1st game of the season against Chattanooga, Veterans Day at the Kress Center. On December 15th they travel to Madison to play Wisconsin. They return home to play another tough opponent in the likes of South Dakota State on November 18. From there they travel to Cancun, Mexico for their Thanksgiving feast to play the likes of Columbia, Arizona State and the Women's 2017 championship runner up, Mississippi State. GB women returns to the Kress Center to play another in-state rival, Marquette on December 2nd. Their next two games will be played away. 1st on December 6th against Dayton and on December 10th against former Horizon League foe, Chicago Loyola on December 10th. Their final home non-conference game will be against Bradley on December 16th and then their final non conference game playing for the 1st time ever at Northwestern on December 19th, GB women commences conference play at Wright State, December 28th following at Northern Kentucky, December 30th. Their first home conference game will be played against UW Milwaukee on January 6th. So Phoenix sports fans, the Women's 2017-2018 season should be an exciting one.

What a season the UWGB Women's basketball team is having. Presently ranked 20th in the nation. Ranked number one is the Women's Mid-major poll. Presently projected as a 5th seed in the NCAA tournament. GB has six remaining conference games of which four are away and final two are at home (Feb 25th is their last home game against Detroit Mercy).

It is a crime that Lindstrom was not named player of the year.
LeClaire should have been first team as well.
I understand the desire to have more teams represented, however I believe the voters missed the target here.

Another year, another championship. Congrats ladies! I think they would've been in anyway but it is a relief to not have to wait it out. Go Phoenix!

I was looking forward to seeing her play, but it is certainly understandable. Best of luck to her and her family.

2018-2019. Another women's basketball season is fast approaching. It will be interesting to see if their non-conference schedule will be another tough one. If past history is the norm, the team will surely have a challenging schedule to toughen them up for Horizon League play. I believe GB women have home games with Wisconsin, Dayton and Northwestern. Two away games more than likely will be against Marquette and South Dakota State. Would be outstanding if they can play South Dakota to make their travel to South Dakota additionally exciting. I personally thought Alex Luehring was going to be Lindstrom's replacement, however, with her father not in good health her being able to transfer to Wisconsin was a unexpected gain for Wisconsin. Hopefully the NCAA grants her a waiver to play immediately instead of having to sit out another year as she red-shirted the past year. Marquette seniors will once again try to beat GB. So far their past three seasons have resulted in losses to GB. So traveling to play Marquette on their home court will provide a huge challenge to the Phoenix. Northwestern should be an outstanding way to start off their season at the Kress Center where they were undefeated at home last year if my memory serves me well. If only the students living on campus would attend their games at the Kress. But, that is wishful thinking. Go Phoenix.
