I am a bit of a glass half empty guy, I am a bit concerned that two players jump ship one early in his career the other the opposite. Is this a sign of dissension in the ranks. Or simply one guy with an NBA dream an another who may have discovered he is not a fit for the current coach and system?? I just think these are two egos leaving. If Khalil, Kaharri or Kam transferred, then I might consider it a problem.

It is pretty evident Kantor is looking for what he thinks is best to get to the NBA. With Anderson it is pretty obvious that he has always wanted to go to Wisconsin but they did not offer a scholarship out of high school and Ryan was not overly excited about him as a walk on but now with Gard it is different. Is it different because Wisconsin is hoping to sign Hauser this next fall? Maybe.....Maybe not. There are now close to 600 college transfers this spring and there were 700 last year. Don't think all these 600 or 700 are a sign of dissension.

FYI, as it stands now with scholarships and walk-on -- Wisconsin has a 17 man roster. Some good seats to watch the game.

Anderson's Horizon League stats for the 8 games he played were 8 starts, 25.5 minutes/game, 6.6 ppg., 28.6% for overall field goals, and 27.6% three-point field goals. Not exactly awesome stats (nor his stats from the Kansas State & Wisconsin games) to move up to the Big Ten. Really happy to see P.J. Pipes working out and getting ready. Would hope all the returning players and all the new recruits are working hard and getting ready also as there is plenty of opportunity to contribute. Hopefully, they all will stay loyal to the program for their remaining years regardless of how much they "improve" or "perceive that they have improved". Pipes 05/05 Student vs Faculty Game...

Lost in all this is the ethical nuance -- all of us would defend the young man and his right to chase his dream -- he just needed to do it showing genuine respect for Darner and GB. That respect would have been best done by making a decision immediately after the season. Absent from the article above is any sign of respect for the program he's leaving and the people who invested so much in him. That needs to be front and center every time he talks to the media or anyone else. So far all I've seen from Anderson is an initial window dressing comment. You have to wonder if Green Bay would have pursued Whitens more aggressively had they known Anderson was going to transfer.

If Anderson would have let his season long doubts and eventual intentions known in March or even early April there would have been a lot more options for the coaching staff that he "loves and respects."

I just can't believe he would leave GB in this fashion. Use all the respectful rhetoric you want, kid, you're still leaving a program that invested highly in your future. I wonder if there's a possible tampering charge the Nix can put on Bucky. How does Anderson even know there's a walk-on spot for him if he transfers? This sets a dangerous precedent. We go way back with Gard, but if he keeps recruiting players on our rosters I'm gonna start leaving burning bags of dog shit on his porch. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using proboards

I'm just curious because I've heard this in other places without any names being thrown around.

Freshman, I stand by my comment on the timing of TA's departure. (not classy) As to the poaching question I doubt Gard and Company would need to do that as a rule.

I'm just curious because I've heard this in other places without any names being thrown around. There are a few players on your roster and ours that have been targeted in recruiting by Wisconsin the past several years. However, the only instance I have seen directly involved Austin Arians, right when our APR ban hit. Their pitch was that he could step right in for Ben Brust in the starting lineup. Unfortunately he bulked up too much in his redshirt year and lost some of his ability to get open and he had to relearn his jump shot (never underestimate the value of your S&C coach). I'm guessing if he knew our AD was going to stab the team in the back, he might have given that more thought. Somewhat related, the whole Big Ten is now employing a strategy of recruiting college juniors and seniors through AAU and HS coaches, monitoring potential fifth-year transfers. A new coach in the HL last year who came from a B1G school told the rest of our coaches that this is what teams in that conference are doing. I see no reason to believe that's changed since that coach came to one of our schools.

Harder to find provable finger prints this way. One of the coolest things about Dick Bennett's days at GB was the way he would use redshirt years to develop talent. For mid-majors those days are probably over. It will also diminish the "David and Goliath" aspect of the NCAA Tournament. It would be interesting to see the kind of "favors" AAU and HS coaches may be receiving for acting as "ad hoc" agents.

So far Trevor is barely playing on the Badgers trip to Australia. I think he played in 1 of the 4 games, he scored 6 points.
As a side note Brevin Pritzel has cut his hair and is making contributions for the Badgers on their trip.

With Anderson sitting out this year, Wisconsin really didn't look to use him. He only played in the Badgers biggest blowout win. Wisconsin needed to see their young players and new rotation guys play together as well. It will still be interesting to see how he fits into their plans in 18-19.
