Shame very few follow UWGB women's basketball on this site. As of 1 February 2017 the team is again ranked in the top 25 (AP and Coaches Polls) along with the 2nd most consecutive winning seasons (2nd to Tennessee) in the country. Currently two senior starters with one of those starters receiving limited minutes and one other senior who as well receives limited minutes due to injury. GB currently will have 11 returning players for 2017-2018 season along with 3 incoming freshman (one from Wisconsin; one from Minnesota and one from South Dakota). So Coach Borseth not only has another winning season this year, I personally believe 2017-18 will continue GB's consecutive seasons winning streak. Oh yea....they have either won or tied for 18 consecutive conference championships. With that said.... Go Phoenix Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green Bay was ranked #21 in the country after starting the conference season 10-0 but has now lost 2 in a row after getting swept on the Michigan road trip. Does that kill their at-large chances?

Agreed.....The loss to a bad Wisconsin was the first blow, but I don't recall the last time a GB team would lose 2 in a row. Are there any key injuries?

If GB wins their remaining six games they will be tied for their 19th consecutive conference title. So it is left up to the team to get back on their winning ways. Personally speaking if GB would lose in the tournament final I still beleive they would receive an at-large bid as they do have some quality wins. Presently they still have a high RPI and winning the conference would help them tremendously with the selection committee even if the lose the conference tournament. Three years ago GB was ranked and took their swing through Michigan and lost both games (Oakland/Detroit) and still played in the NCAA tournament. Their recent two losses was due to their own playing. With 7 seconds left in the Oakland game with the score tied GB had their in-bounds pass stolen and the Oakland guard took it in for a lay-up and was fouled as well. Oakland player made her free through and the ending score was 75 to 72. Again in the Detroit game, Detroit was ahead by one point with 29 seconds left in the game. GB went for the last shot and their management of the clock was absolutely terrible and it resulted in a poor pass being intercepted by Detroit and GB fouled the player. Detroit made 2 free throws putting them up by 3 points. GB ended up throwing the ball in and fouled another Detroit player and she made one free throw and front ended the second one game over. Bottom line. GB women had their chances of coming out victorious in both games but in my opinion blew it. What was really unpleasant was GB losing to Oakland after GB had beaten them at the Kress Center by 42 points. I do have to mention it was one heck of a come back against Detroit as they lead GB 30 to 11 at the end of the 1st quarter. Added note...Oakland seems to have GB's number as they have beaten GB 3 our of their last 4 regular season games.

If the UWGB women's basketball team wins their last two games by beating Wright State on Friday and then Northern Kentucky on Sunday they would tie for their 19 consecutive conference championship. Unfortunately they have lost their last 3 road games. Matter of fact of their 5 losses this year four of them have been on the road. Their only home loss was against lowly Wisconsin. Personally speaking if GB doesn't either win their conference or win the tournament championship there may be a chance they may not make the big dance. Hopefully they take care of business by winning their conference and winning their tournament and thus receive the NCAA automatic bid to the tournament. Go Phoenix.

Awesome for UWGB women's basketball and the Horizon League with Mehryn Kraker being drafted by WNBA (Washington) as the 27th overall pick. What a way for Kraker to end a stellar career with being the 2nd UWGB women's basketball player ever drafted. Wojta was the GB player 1st to be drafted. Cassandra Johnson signed with the LA Sparks as a free agent and Natalie Berglin signed a one week contract. I do not believe any other Horizon League women's basketball player has been drafted other than the 2 from UWGB.

First things first. Mehryn Kraker was waived yesterday by the Washington Mystics. She played in both of their exhibition games. Secondly, the women's basketball team was selected to participate in the 13th year of the Cancun Challenge (Mayan Tournament) which will be held November 23-25th at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. UWGB women will be playing Columbia on Nov 23rd. Will play Arizona State on Nov 24th and the 2016-2017 Women's basketball runner-up Mississippi State on Nov 25th. South Dakota lead by a former UWGB assistant coach Dawn Plitzuweit (former head coach at Northern Kentucky as well as a former assistant to Coach Borseth when he was University of Michigan's head coach) and former UWGB player Kayla Tetschlag who is one of Dawn Plitzuweit's assistant coaches. South Dakota, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Indiana State, Montana and Marquette will be participating there as well in the Riviera Tournament. 2017-2018 will again be an exciting season for the women's basketball team as they have 11 returning players to go along with their 3 incoming freshman. Go Phoenix.
