So it begins....Oakland loses Tray Maddox and 3 others to the transfer portal No need to worry about that happening here. Spoke with Amari after the Cleveland St game and he said we can bank on having him for 4 years.

Odd after UIC had a good HL tourney run that they would fire him. They better have a better alternative lined up.

On paper a good hire from a hoops perspective.
His background suggests he is a bit of a small town boy so it will be interesting to see if he fits in working just west of downtown Chicago.
Certainly UIC could have done worse.

Yaklich already is the best coach in the league to some people and hasn’t even coached a game. SMH

The Horizon League is running a “player of the decade” bracket on Twitter. Currently, Sykes is getting beat by Drew McDonald (wtf)? Still time left to vote.

Great games last night. Really sucks being left out of all that and Milwaukee winning too!

Yeah last night was bonkers. 3 of the 4 games went to OT and the only one that didn’t ended on a buzzer beater in regulation. SportsCenter actually did a whole segment on it last night:

All seems to be going well in Milwaukee, fans trying to check and see if PBS is in a contract year.

Three weeks into the college basketball season and one thing is clear: the Horizon League absolutely stinks. The HL is getting pummeled during the non-conference and is currently the #23 ranked conference (out of 32) according to KenPom which would be its lowest ranking ever. 5 teams (including GB) don't have a Division I win yet.
I think most people thought the HL was generally going to be improved this season but that has not been the case at all.
A silver lining I guess is that the league does seem to be wide open, only Oakland has really separated itself so far during the non-conference season. Green Bay could sneak into the top 4 at this rate and earn one of those first round byes in the HL Tournament just because the league seems to be in a race to the bottom this season.
