GB got a #10 seed versus #7 Tennessee in Tempe, AZ. Nothing like going against college basketball royalty but not quite the fearsome program that it was under Pat Summitt.

Wow wow. The UWGB women's basketball team had an outstanding year and yet they didn't achieve total success. After reviewing the UWGB vs Tennessee stats it surely showed had they made their bunnies and if their two leading scorers had just made a few three pointers the outcome would have been a GB win. My gosh they could have been playing Arizona State and I personally believe they could have beaten them to make it to the Sweet Sixteen. So their March Madness ended quickly and sadly. However, losing only one starter and returning 4 starters (includes Buck as she was a previous starter), four bench players, three redshirts, 3 new recruits and one preferred walk-on, the 2016-2017 year should be another winning season for the Phoenix. My only concern would be this: how does Coach Borseth keep that many players happy? I imagine the three new recruits and the preferred walk-on will redshirt (but that is not a given) that would leave Borseth with 11 players who are all capable of giving him quality minutes. With that said. Imagine if GB had players who knew how to pound the ball on the inside (Weitzer(6'3"; Monke(6'2"); Wolf(6'4); Wolf(6'3); Lindstrom(6'1") on a consistent basis instead of living off of the 3 pointers. I only see great things for 2016-2017 and most especially if the team can play another tough non-conference schedule as they did the this past season. (GB fans were really blessed having so many outstanding home non-conference games this past season). Barring no injuries as they had in the loss of Luke who in my opinion would have been the missing piece in this year's team GB should once again compete for the Horizon League Conference Championship to include winning the Horizon League automatic bid to the NCAA. Rumors have it that Women's Horizon League Tournament will be played during the same week as the Men's Horizon League plays theirs.

Yup. Green Bay and Princeton were both out fast. Really a shame as both teams were pretty damn good.

Seems like there is very little chatter within this site regarding UWGB women's basketball. Guess that doesn't surprise me as the attending students on campus don't even bother attending the games at the Kress Center. Shame for a school its size that has terrible attendance for their basketball games regardless if it's the women playing at the Kress or the men playing at the Resch Center. Hopefully the students will wake up and come out and support their sports teams. From what I read their attendance at other sporting events (volleyball, soccer, softball, swimming etc) are non-existent. Shame shame....

From what I read their attendance at other sporting events (volleyball, soccer, softball, swimming etc) are non-existent. Shame shame.... It's the sport. Down here WBB is attended less than both soccer teams and is about the same as volleyball. Students go to those three more than WBB because the sport is not the same. It's not a sexist thing. Womens soccer is fun. Volleyball is fun, plus the obvious sartorial pull for students. Womens basketball is a two-dimensional game. It's not the vertical game that men's basketball is. I like WBB, but I'd take a regular season MBB game over a WBB NCAA Tourney game any day. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards
