You got to love this guy. He put in his time and never complained. He worked hard on defense, the problem was he would take 3-3 pointers in 4 minutes played. He needs to learn to exert a inside force on offense. At GB he just wanted to stand at the 3 point line and if he got the ball shoot. Nice kid just needs a tougher mind set. Good luck at Point.

As speculated in page 1 of this thread, Aaron Armstead will transfer. I'll make the prediction that he ends up on the west coast playing with his brother Aaric. Aaron shot under 30% this past year, but I still thought he had very good potential. A very versatile player with nice length and passing ability. However, they also seemed to be some maturity/focus issues that might have held him back. A lack of a clear path to playing time might have effected his decision. The addition of Cole Stefan gave the Phoenix a load of talent at SG. That's now a lot of transfers, yet we still have the 5 players that started when the team won 8 of its last 11, plus experienced back-ups Mays and Turner. Stefan, Fouse, and now Muhammad need to make an immediate impact to give this roster the depth its lacked the last 2 years. The newcomers simply need to be efficient role players, as we already have our stars in Brown and Sykes.

It's tough when his family moves 1500 miles away after you expect them to see you play. He did show alot in the one game, but consistantcy is the most important thing in BB. Good luck to you and all the new players coming in. Lots to be excited about next season. Would love to hear updates on how summer work outs are going. Hope they get the waiver on Cole, he looks like he could help right away.

I am disappointed to see Armstead leave. He didn't always show the most in his 15 mpg but he had the look and feel of a guy who was going to be very good by the end of his time in GB. I still compare him to Chase Simon and Detroit. I think this is a bit of a loss for the program.
Also, it slightly concerns me that guys like Jarvis Williams, Terry Johnson and Aaron Armstead are moving on. All of them are rotation players and yet all are not coming back. It makes me wonder what went wrong. Is it the players, the staff or something else? I know a lot of guys transfer in college hoops but these were all Wardle guys.

I agree with most everything gbphoenix1 says. I am not comfortable with the amount of turnover we are seeing. I would add Heuer to the list of those who could have contributed.

Williams would have returned if Wardle had promised him a role. Clearly Wardle thinks Fouse will come in as an impact player. Johnson didn't work at as a PG. It wouldn't have helped the program to have him stay 2 more years. Aarmstead is a loss. I'm not sure that can be considered a mistake by the coaches. How often is a family going to pull up its roots in Chicago and move the rest of its basketball playing family to California? This was a very rare circumstance. Green Bay hasn't lost players because they didn't like the school, the coaches, the style of play, or the opportunity to win. Those are the things that the coaches can control. I'm like that we've recruited players that want playing time. I don't want guys like former Badger JP Gavinski who are perfectly conntent take up a roster spot for 5 years while never working to develop their game. I'd prefer more continuity, but only if the circumstances are right.

I keep reading on this board that Armstead is leaving because of his family. I haven't actually read a quote from Aaron that indicates that. Has anyone actually reported anything from Aaron? Usually some website somewhere posts an interview. If he really is leaving for family reasons, then I don't have an issue.

Your correct that we are just speculating that Aaron transferring for family reasons. We likely won't know anything until Aaron completes his transfer.

Over on CBSsports.com, they have an early Horizon League rundown, including calling Green Bay a "dark horse" and really early prediction of a third place conference finish Link

I like the early top 5. Depending on how good their returnees go, I might jump CSU to 3 and bump us down to 4 & 5, respectively. But that's a pretty strong top 5.

Detroit struggled mightily without Holman last year. Now they're without him again, plus Lowe, Simon, and Foster. They add Howard, he's solid, but not a major impact guy. They bring in some new bigs, but McCallum hasn't shown he can get newcomers ready to play quickly. They belong no higher than 3rd.
YSU returns their top 3 players, all potential all-conference players. They belong in the top 4.
Milwaukee has little returning production and their weakest recruiting class in some time. They're fit perfectly at 6th.
I'm surprised that writers are expecting the conference to be compititive all the way through. The bottom 3 teams in the conference are really going to struggle.
