It's always fun to talk to GB fans either before or after the game at Major Goolsby's across the street from the arena. If you're going to the game tonight, keep in mind that the Bucks are playing the Heat next door at 7:00 so parking will be a little tighter than usual.

I expect a very exciting matchup. Jordan Johnson is a great PG and I would think Milwaukee will turn him loose when they have numbers and can take advantage in transition. Milwaukee shoots a ton of threes (Arians. Early in the season I would have thought this would be a tough matchup for us but as long as we do not get leveled on the boards, it should be a tight one. Going to need CLove to have a great game in his home city. 84-80 Milwaukee but I hope I am wrong.

Going to need CLove to have a great game in his home city. 84-80 Milwaukee but I hope I am wrong. I don't know how much transition we plan to run, since that would play right into Darner's hands. Then again, we continue to jack an ungodly amount of threes despite the fact that it directly cuts into our greatest strengths, so who knows - maybe we'll make it a track meet! Seriously, GB's best defense is to probably sag off everyone at the three-point line who isn't named Cody Wichmann. That's not a joke - Arians went and bulked up way too much in the off-season. In the early fall you could see a bunch of muscle. He's had a few months and added a bit of a different kind of padding to it hahaha. It's totally derailed his three-point shot, since when he jumps he's not putting 18 inches of vertical power into every shot. I used to be totally fine with him taking contested threes from 25 feet. Now, I'm worried when he's almost at the line and wide open. This team we have is infuriating to watch. We had thought that their defense was swiss cheese, but it turns out our defensive efficiency is much better than we had previously thought. What's infuriating is that this team constantly passes on attacking the basket in exchange for three point attempts. I say attempts because despite our somewhat-respectable 35.5% from outside, we're shooting ourselves in the foot by continuing to do it all from outside. We are, by 2.5%, the best two-point shooting team in the conference at 53.9% (Detroit is 51.4%). I used the Horizon League's updated stat PDF to figure out the two-point percentage and three-point rate. Milwaukee is first in the Horizon League in both. That's right - we are by a comfortable margin the best shooting team from two, and by far the team that takes the most amount of threes per shot attempt. Excuse me while my worst fears were confirmed; I'm going to go have a drink.

Fouse shuts down Tiby and the Shamthers cannot connect on their 3s. 87-78 Phoenix You get two thumbs up - one for the Fouse shutting down Tiby prediction (a possibility I worry is too likely) and another thumb up for the Shamthers nickname, which is original.

Mentioning Cody Wichmann in a statement regarding him as a basketball player is about as erroneous as to say Alec Brown was a post-presence.

Ahhhhhh what a tough loss! Free throws cost us that game for sure but o well I'm impressed with our fight against one of the better teams in the conference.
I know this will sound bias but Green Bay definitely has a brighter future than their rivals to the south. We will take it to them up in Green Bay in a couple weeks, there's no way Arians will shoot like that again.
Go Phoenix! The future is brighter than Wardle ever had it!

That was a gut punch. Getting a T that late in the game wasn't smart.
Somehow, someway half court D has to be much improved before I start getting too excited for the future.

Well this was a great game. Sadly, the 'Nix came up a point short. We'll get 'em next time!
There was a discussion on this board some time ago regarding Linc's "in-game" demeanor. I said he was generally on an even keel and didn't act out very much - but would occasionally tear off his jacket and toss it. He did exactly that tonight after about the fourth time UWM ran the shot clock all the way down, took a shot, got the board and made the basket.
I hope everybody who made the trip to MKE for the game had a great time!
(At least my Heat came away with a "W" just a block away.)

The world isn't imploding, just an unlucky loss, our offense can compensate for poor defense, as evident by rarely getting beat by more than a few points. Since home court doesn't matter in the playoffs, the reality is these games have no real meaning.

Yay, I disagree. What I saw was a team having trouble matching up with the Milwaukee size and beef. The D for the pace of the game wasn't bad. That said this team kept with the Darner fast pace offense. A couple of bad decisions or stupid errors costs them the game -- the technical foul, missed front end of free throws and having the ball stolen away with 3.8 seconds left.
It is what it is, a one point loss on the road, in the first year of a new coach.

The defense did not cost them the game, it came down to free throws. Green Bay attempted 18 only making 11 while Milwaukee was at the line 33 times making 22. Green Bay's defense was bad but Milwaukee's was even worse. Green Bay shot 63% for the game and would have won had it shot better from the free throw line. Despite Milwaukee's size advantage the rebounding difference was not huge. The free throw difference may be attributed to the fact that Milwaukee stepped aside and allowed a free path to the hoop, although I thought there were a few phantom calls on the Phoenix. Any idea what was done by Fouse to deserve a technical? This is the second game Milwaukee has won with a technical called late in the game against an opponent.
Note, I watched the game at a bar with no sound.

All in all this game down to one thing. Recruiting. This game was great showcase for both teams on potential recruits for 2017. Which by the way, does anyone know of the recruits Milwaukee has coming in next year?
