I saw this in the GBPG and was quite intrigued.....I know that Divibliss was the taskmaster of the program and wanted the head job when Bollant left for Illinois. Bollant was the ace recruiter while Divibliss was details guy and disciplinarian. There seemed like there were a few more transfers in the Bollant era then there was in both Borseth stints. The GB women's program was at their height (as if they are not a consistent winner already) under Bollant. If these allegations are true, they are disturbing to say the least. I also wonder if any of this kind of behavior existed at GB....... www.greenbaypressgazette.com/story/sports/college/2015/05/19/former-uwgb-assistant-mike-divilbiss-leaves-illinois/27572837/

This is a career ender for Divibliss on the D1 coaching stage. Eventually it may take down Bollant as well. The number of players and parents I'm sure is a concern to the Illinois Administration. The bar for doing damage is not what can be established in a courtroom and that will probably cost both coaches. This seems much more extensive and racially charged than the allegations against Wardle.

A poster here, Shamrockmuscles, confirmed in earlier posts that Divilbiss was a nut job. So relieved he's gone from Green Bay. Bolland made a huge mistake bringing him a long to Illinois.
I'm sure much of this behavior is what lead to the implosion Divilbiss suffered at Idaho.

Looking at Bollant's record overall at Illinois, he is 43-51 (.457). He had his best season in his first year, but has struggled since then. If this scandal doesn't take him down, at the very least the leash just got a LOT shorter. Another losing season with the allegations hanging overhead, will finish him at Illinois. Bollant is a good coach and a great recruiter, but hitched his wagon on an experienced assistant, who has a history of abhorrent behavior......With the wins and tourney runs Bollant had at GB, many fans and the GB Admin put up with most of Divilbiss' antics. But since GB Women's basketball is the crown jewel of GB Athletics, Divilbiss probably couldn't act like a complete a-hole without someone noticing or reporting it. Being at Illinois, football and men's basketball overshadow the women's BB program, and unfortunately, Divilbiss' act went unnoticed for a while, but with the racially charged accusations being made, it wasn't going to be hidden for long.....This makes the Wardle abuse accusations by Bross and Cougill looks like a small argument.
With what we knew about Divilbiss in his stint at GB, and what is coming out now, I'm glad former GB AD Ken Bohtof didn't hire him after Bollant left for Illinois. The program would have flamed out in spectacular fashion after 25 years of D1 success between Carol Hammerle, Kevin Borseth, and Bollant. All of that work to build the women's program would rendered the program to being just average and not the 'Gonzaga/Butler/VCU of Women's College BB' that GB has become.
I don't want to see Bollant fail, but as the saying goes "You are the company you keep....."

Interesting progression on the reporting of this story: - GBPG: It happened, health - Daily Illini: It happened, health, racial - Tribune: It happened, health, racial, sexual
This story may not die easily.
The Trib article also quotes an attempt by UofI officials to explain away the use of an internal investigation by stating the complaints were just Title IX related. Most campuses are petrified by Title IX. UofI Athletics may learn why the hard way.

Without the leftovers from Borseth, Bollant might have failed in Green Bay.

Well I've read the parents' letters and other articles I could find on this matter, including those in the News-Gazette. Given that the complaints are coming from multiple directions and quite serious, the university's reaction so weak and that there are issues with the football program as well it would seem that UofI athletics is on the verge of implosion. Even a thorough housecleaning may not be enough to deflect the likely lawsuits. If the Fed's decide to flex their muscles w/r/t Title IX UofI will rue the day they responded in such a weak manner to this matter.
This is a truly despicable business. What a disgrace!

I don't know if Bollant is a good coach or recruiter. I don't know much about his assistant coach for that matter either. I read through the three letters and I see equal parts of potential issues if true and overly sensitive parents. If these parents could stay on task with their complaints it would be more damning. Mixing in our daughter is too athletic for the system, the crowd went nuts for the play but the staff hated it, older players buying alcohol for younger ones, not standing up to the "alcoholic" team captain and motivating through fear or extra practice hardly seem like a guy should get fired. Don't get me wrong I can see where that would impact a students desire to stay at UofI but it doesn't seem that out of line. Talking about family situations, using race (although it seems vague as the players impacted are of different races), inappropriate perks, inappropriate physical contact and not providing proper care are a different story.

If most of these stories are true, Bollant will be out the door soon as well. It starts at the top and he will be known more for that than anything that happened at GB.

Overall I would say this article is not very supportive of the university's attempt to make this go away.
It's also clear that the UofI has lawyered up with a very aggressive law firm. Anyone have doubts about what the findings will be?
