I know Linc wanted this, so congrats to you Coach Darner!
Still room for Mooney.
Nix starting to look good! At least you know you're going to put up the points! Also, the depth at guard really helps to keep things fresh on defense.
Y'all getting happier?

You have to be happy with how things seem to be falling in place. I have to admit I was starting to worry about generating a lot of interest but not landing anyone. I think the three commitments so far are fantastic, all three have very high potential. This team should be fun to watch.
Darner has accomplished a lot in a very short period of time. I know it has to carry over to the court, but I am optimistic.

I am super excited. Linc really did a lot in a small window of time. The recruits all seem to have huge upside.

I was super pumped when I woke up to see this news. I had watched all of their videos online and they ooze a lot of potential. I am very pleased with the 3 recruits so far.
Linc said something to the effect of there are tons of kids in Florida who want to play D1 ball and will go anywhere they just need a chance. Offering them together obviously secured the Brown's but think about how many good players YSU has had from Florida in the past (Hain, Perry and Allen come to mind). If YSU can do it so too can GB. The key is making sure Linc does more with that talent than Slocum did.

Mocfan should be able to correct me on this -- it looks like the Brown twins played in the same conference as Marquette recruit, Haanif Cheatham. Lake Minneola and Cheatham's -- Pembroke Pines Charter faced each other in 2 games this past season. Anthony Brown and Cheatham were listed as first team 6A All State. Avery was second team. Cheatham is pretty highly rated but Anthony was voted 6A Player of the Year in Florida. I guess my question for Mocfan would be how tough a competition did the Brown twins face in high school and how D1 NCAA ready are they? www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/highschool/boys-basketball/os-six-area-players-named-to-class-6a-allstate-team-20150422-post.html

Where are all the Linc haters now? He is putting together a very solid class with little time to work with. Linc is going to be very good here!

Ready to take a stab at this again.
So the question is how good are the Browns and how good was their team.
1) I have no record of Lake Minneola having played Pembroke Pines Charter this year. They are in the same class but about 240 miles apart. They could have but they didn't.
2) In FL a "Class" is based on the size of the school and ranges from 1A (smallest) to 8A (largest). 8A - 2,341 to 4,492 7A - 1,954 to 2,340 6A - 1,607 to 1,953 5A - 1,161 to 1,606 4A - 473 to 1,160
3) I followed two teams here (as in attended multiple games) this year: Blanche Ely and Cardinal Gibbons.
4) Blanche Ely (28-1, 8-0) Class 7A State Champion: Max Preps Excellent 25 #7 (#1=Montverde Academy) USA Today Super 25 #8 (#1=Montverde Academy) Max Preps FL #2 (#1=Montverde Academy) Max Preps FL Class 7A #1 Max Preps Nat Computer Model #43 The one loss was to Findlay Prep (NV) in the post-season Dick's National Tournament in NYC. Winner=Montverde Academy, Second=Oak Hill Academy
5) Cardinal Gibbons (32-1, 6-0) Class 5A State Champion: Max Preps Excellent 25 #15 USA Today Super 25 #11 Max Preps FL #4 Max Preps FL Class 5A #1 Max Preps Nat Computer Model #74 The one loss was to Blanche Ely (Possibly the best HS game I have ever witnessed.)
6) Lake Minneola (24-5, 9-0) Class 6A Regional Semifinalist: Max Preps FL #10 Max Preps FL Class 6A #1 (Yes, Miami Norland was #2.) Max Preps Nat Computer Model #345 They only had one loss to a marginal team. Others to good teams including... Montverde Academy (10 pts.) which is about three miles away.
7) Max Preps FL Class 6A Rankings: #1 Lake Minneola #2 Miami Norland (6A champions and a powerhouse. Great coach.) #3 Pembroke Pines Charter
More to follow...

So how good was Lake Minneola as a team? I think real good. Other than an unfortunate loss in a regional semi-final they were on track for another meeting with Miami Norland in the final. Miami Norland is a monster team with a great coach. For Max Preps' model to spit out Lake Minneola as #1 and Norland as #2 there had to be some great things going on with Lake Minneola this year. But upsets happen. Not much you can do about that.
Pembroke Pines Charter (Cheatham's team) was 19-10, 4-0. Of the ten loses: quality losses all, including Cardinal Gibbons, Blanche Ely and Miami Norland in a regional final.
Tournament Bracket: www.fhsaa.org/node/18713
How good are the Browns?
Teams at this level in FL tend to have a great player or two and face some great opposing teams/players. The Haanif Cheatham from Pines Charter is committed to Marquette. Dewan Huell from Norland is offered by: NC, Wake Forest, L'ville, SC, FSU, UF, Miami, Alabama, Memphis, Ole Miss and USF. Chance McSpadden of Winter Haven is committed to UCF. Ike Smith of Gainesville is committed to Georgia Southern.
(Note in your Orlando Sentinel article that 2 of 5 on the 5A All-State Team are from Cardinal Gibbons: Rowan, who as a Jr. is an upper major recruit with many offers and Morales, who will be prepping for a year and then Princeton. Rowan is extraordinary - perhaps the best high school player I have ever seen play in person. Also, Scottie James of Tarpon Springs is an FSC recruit and his coach was 5A Coach of the Year. On the 3A All-State team (not in the article) Ryan McMahon of Sarasota Cardinal Mooney was an FSC recruit who was nabbed away late by Rick Pitino for L'ville (boo!), Prince Ali of Sagemont is committed to UCLA and Wyatt Walker of Providence is bound for Princeton.)
The Browns had to have carried their team. (There is no other recruiting activity going on with the other players.) They have skills. The level of competition is high. The team held in high regard. The result very good. Everything indicates that the Browns are solid players. Are they D1 capable? I would definitely say yes. Are they going to set the world on fire as freshmen? Probably not. Will they play as freshman? I think so. As long as they are coachable (and I have no reason to think they aren't) Linc will get the most possible out of them. He's an inspiring guy and a great coach.
BTW - Being 6A Player of the Year is a huge deal. There is no runner up. (Class 6a is 87 schools. Rowan did not get the POY Award for Class 5A. That's about the only thing he didn't get.)
