1) Why isn't Jalen Gibson in VerbalCommits? Very strange that they don't know anything about him. 2) The LOI regular signing period for basketball ended 29MAY2015: www.nationalletter.org/ (I posted this before somewhere here.)

If the LOI ended on 5/29, can we sign any more HS players then? I can see picking up a late transfer either from the JC ranks or another D1 program (this is how we got Brandon Morris, for those of you who remember the TK era, where he didn't sign until August before the school year).

There's another document that can be signed by high school player. (financial aid agreement/same as scholarship provisions) It's doesn't bind the player until he actually shows up on campus and is enrolled.
That poster from Michigan alluded to the staff doing a lot of leg work with coaches and AAU types in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.

What happened to Diekvoss at Richmond? Was he injured?
Good move to go to Lindenwood. He'll like the coach!
I see in Diekvoss's twitter that he recently followed the Nova Southeastern Ass't. Mens BB Coach. I wonder if there was some interest there. I bet he was looking at schools in the Sunshine State Conference possibly including St. Leo and decided to follow Randall to Lindenwood. While on the subject NSU had a lot of turnover on their team very recently: www.verbalcommits.com/schools/nova-southeastern. (I post the link but it may not have a very long shelf life.)

Diekvoss redshirted last year. Was surprised he got such a high offer to being with but have no idea what happened last year that made him leave Richmond. The wisconsin connections continue at Lindenwood.

It looks like Jalen Gibson has committed to Detroit.

That open scholarship is extremely valuable to to Darner and Company. Some real value having a card to play late in the game.

With Gibson going to Detroit, Sprewell going to Grambling State and Poydras going to Utah Valley that tells me that this staff is either really bad at sealing the deal or are waiting for someone else in particular. Last I checked Bryson Scott still hasn't made a decision. It must be Scott or bust/bank with that last scholarship.

I can't say this for sure but I think Diekvoss was over recruited by going to Richmond. People I know in GB who watch a lot of hoops were surprised that he went that high. Based on that I think he sat out to try and get better but didn't make enough progress to want to stay.

At this point in the off-season, unless there is another high major player looking to transfer our of the blue to GB, it's either Scott or bank the scholarship like GBPhoenix1 said. Could there be another possibility of another JUCO transfer?......I have a feeling that Linc isn't done yet for some reason......

If in deed 12 scholarships are locked in for the coming season there's no reason not to hold onto the last available scholarship until a player turns up who can be a potential difference maker immediately or down the road.

I would say that they have actually been great at "sealing the deal". They got 4 guys extremely late in the signing period and beat out other good schools to get them. Also, let's know what we are talking about before making statements without knowing the facts : Sprewell was coming as a walk-on, not as a scholarship player, Poydras was NEVER offered and not even pursued. He came on a unofficial visit was told there was a chance they would consider him but not to lose any other offers if he had any. Gibson would have been a great last minute steal and they got him in for an official visit. Once the hometown school that was also recruiting got wind of this and knew they were going to lose him, had him visit on the Monday after his visit to GB, offered him and kept him at home. GB is in the final 2 for Scott, he is taking his last visit this week to a MVC school. There are still other players they are on as well.

My comments were meant to indicate they are waiting for someone other than the names that have come up in the past and selected other schools. They are either bad at sealing the deal which I don't believe or they are waiting someone out and then I referenced Scott having not made a decision. When they don't need another player they can wait for the player with the highest ceiling.
