I'm not so sure we should assume Wolf will run NBA style offenses. Wolf played college ball for Dean Smith when Smith was at his best. They played team ball.
Wolf wasn't just the coach of his NBDL team, he was also the GM. He found dozens of quality players who later moved up to the NBA, some who became very solid players. He has a keen eye for talent.
He's never had a problem with travel, he simply wants his home base to be closer to family So he can put his roots back down. That's exactly what we should be looking for.
I'd love to be part of that interview. He's a very interesting candidate.
The final five Venci is reporting of Steele, GG, Barone, Darner, and Wolf is an outstanding group.
My interest would be limited to the 3 with head coaching experience. Wolf, GG, or Darner and I'll be renewing my season tickets.

I also agree that Wolf is a highly interesting candidate!

Jeez does not seem like this hiring process will ever end! A lot of solid interest, especially if Gard and Steele are in the mix.

One thing you need to keep in mind about NAIA is that they can give scholarships and can have zero academic standards, both huge advantages over D-III in recruiting. I realize that Diener won his title against other NAIA schools, but don't judge him versus D-III coaches based on statistics.

Stritch has less than half the scholarships the rest of the country is afforded and they have have had academic all americans nearly every year. That Diener has accomplished what he has, with a number of players with near 4.0 grade points is another plus. Perhaps your bandit coach could learn a thing or two...you know...no NCAA Tourney because of the terrible students he has recruited? Stooge. Edit for more info...On one hand I am sorry for getting fired up but there is a kid involved that I am proud of and to read such a clueless comment ticks me off. This is just meant to be light hearted. I wanted to go to Travis Steele's twitter so I went to google. I love how google starts to fill in popular search topics. On google I typed in Travis Steele, the second option to populate is wife. Maybe my mind is twisted but that made me click on images. Lets just say if this doesn't prove he is a winner nothing will!
Ok, on point I like that he is labeled as an all around coach with high energy and strong recruiting skill. I love the pedigree from Xavier, a very good program with great coaching in the past. He likely keeps Okafor and Francis in the program which is a plus. I would endorse this hire, he seems like a good outside candidate.

Obviously you have a bias, which is totally fine, if not expected, however don't fail to look at the other side. Panther is definitely right when he says you can't just go by the numbers, you must go deeper into the situation.

You are right Knightslyfe, and when I went deeper into the situation, all I found was a National Championship banner, multiple back to back conference championship, a young winning coach with a lot of enthusiasm that works with barely any resourses. Half scholarships compared to the other schools in his conference and a gym that is laughable. If you have not seen the gym, I left a link for a highlight video of one of our own that shows the gym multiple times. CS's gym is the one that has the wolf in the middle, no bleachers behind where the players sit (looks like a middle school gym). Now compare that to SNC's gym. I am not saying hire Diener because of this, but do not try and put him down because he is NAIA. He has to work far harder than his D3 counterparts, fact!

Nice video I had to look up Derek Semenas thought he played for GB. I see he's signed with a European team congrats to him. Some of the other teams had reasonable gyms like we see at top High Schools. Saw a lot of the side where players sat. Looked really weird not having any bleachers behind them. Caught a glimpse of the other side with the few bleacher seats. Really it looks like a gym used for workouts not games.

Via Scott Venci on twitter..."Per source, GB will indeed hire Florida Southern coach Linc Darner as its coach."

And when you go deeper into the situation at SNC, you'd see that Grzesk, with ZERO scholarships, has recruited and developed both guys who were highly touted that easily could've played up a division or two as well as guys who were totally overlooked. Several conference championships, a couple of tourney wins (he did win two, not one), and he has turned SNC, who was in the basement of the MWC into a team that wins and draws huge numbers of fans, which is remarkable considering Schuldes (which I guarantee you have never set foot in) is a very poor excuse of an athletic facility for a college level program. I am not putting Diener down at all, I think he has done an outstanding job, but don't put Grzesk down when he has had a similar level of success with even fewer resources compared to his D3 counterparts. You cannot compare NAIA to D3 in general, two totally different animals in terms of recruiting, academic standards, finances etc...

i just saw that and am assuming he would have confirmed the report prior to tweeting it. What I was told happened last week was Linc's agent was working on the contract and it was not finalized when the report came out. Thus making it an incorrect story.
Now we need him to hit the road running as he has missed a few days of recruiting.
