Embarrassing second half in an embarrassing loss. Once again Wardle can't get it done. A wasted season in my book. The NIT isn't even worth playing in. Just sickening all around.

In a game without officials, the physically stronger team wins. Valpo ripped the ball out for turnovers that leaf to fast break points. Trouble.
Then with a glimmer of hope left, Sykes got roasted off the dribble by big slow E Victor Nickerson. Ball game.

The NIT could be great experience for the younger players. Playing in a National Tournament with TV coverage is always better than nothing. Am I disappointed? Yes, crushed. This was must win. They lost. The coach could leave despite not making the big dance. Even if he stays, the weak recruiting class that will be juniors next year will hurt GB for 2 more years.

I wouldn't say there were no officials, the game featured some of the most ticky tack calls I've seen in a game. On the other hand, they did miss several travels and double dribbles, something they should never be inconsistent at. Plain and simple, the Phoenix aren't clutch, their coach isn't clutch, and when a team gets on a roll, they can't recuperate.

Watching them play in the NIT last year was one of the most execrable games I have ever seen in my life. No one wanted to be there and we ended up getting embarrassed at home. There's simply no dignity in going out like that, especially with these seniors.

This loss hurts, although I think last year was their best shot. Congratulations to Valpo, they were the stronger team. Valpo did it with a lot of freshmen and sophmores Green Bay may have to as well. Wardle may have to bring in a JC player or 5th year transfer.

Can not just beat up on poor teams all year and then expect to do well at tournament time.

I really don't care about SNCs bball team, so your attempt at an insult is null, let's not revert back that bull. The fact of the matter is this team can't pull off any wins with pressure. If we get lucky, Wardle will haul himself out of town so we may actually have a chance at a title in the next few years.

So if Wardle leaves, who do you think they will get to replace him. Do not forget he recruited the guys that got us to the championship game.

I have not given up on Wardle, but I'm also not sold on him being the answer. My question is, who do you think we can get to come to Green Bay when we can't offer the kind of salary that the top programs in the Horizon can? I'm assuming you think Grzesk can do the job? Because other than him, we don't have a lot of great options. Just look at the last few coaching searches.

I'm not a huge Snc bball fan, nor a Grzesk fan, however I think he had more of a winning aura about him. Yea he's had some of the same problems as Wardle such as belittling players, but I think he might be a little more lenient on the Phoenix if he were to get the job.

I hope Wardle does not go anywhere, I certainly do not think he will be fired, but he could go somewhere else for more money. If he were to leave, they could possible dip into the assistant coaching ranks or perhaps one of the state division 3 schools.

Drew is a fantastic option, he's won a NAIA national title, and he's been a D1 assistant at the high major level. As a side note, he's the nephew of a former Phoenix. Grzesk likely views the Green Bay job as his final destination job, making him original. Green Bay has terrific options. I haven't even mentioned Pat Miller yet.

DePaul has to be the only power conference team that would be interested in Wardle at this point. His recruiting success in Chicago would make him a good candidate there and they need to make a change. Possibly he would take a pay increase and be an option for a MAC or MVC school?
Next years club will have a couple of good core players in Fouse, Love and Francis as well as a promising freshman class. Hopefully Brian can find a player or two in the offseason via JC or a 5th year transfer that can either shoot the rock or provide some size. The thing that scares me the most is how much better the rest of the league will be. Id say the Phoenix will be ranked 5th or 6th in the preseason polls behind Valpo, CSU, Oakland, UWM and possibly Detroit.
