This is an interesting candidate pool.
In Flannery you have a marketing person with a history of growing enrollments and brand recognition. However, she hasn't worked for smaller state universities with less resources so growing the UWGB brand is different than American University or Maryland. Also, she doesn't necessarily have an academic background from the classroom experience level that some may like. Overall, I am very intrigued by her resume as it speaks to things that UWGB needs to be really good with moving forward.
In Biermann you have experience at a private school that is facing some declining issues in programming and finances. I don't see much that says he has experience in growing a university or brand and not a lot on the public side.
In Vermeulen you have someone who has classroom experience and leadership experience at similar public universities to UWGB. Stockton, where she is coming from is similar in size and resources to UWGB and is also located in a similar market as it is located just outside of Atlantic City. On the downside she has been more focused on a liberal arts platform versus a ready to go job training focus. Also, she was in the middle of a revolt at Stockton that pretty much cost her the job as Provost.
In Alexander you have a wildcard. He is virtually brand new to UWGB. He has strong ties to Wisconsin as a student and a lot of history growing various music schools at other public universities.
Without hearing a word from them I rank them like this: Flannery Vermuelen Alexander Biermann
As long as we don't get another Mark Perkins......He set athletics back, as we should have had a new arena sooner (either on or off campus), by taking advantage of the success those GB teams had in the early 90's.
