As we add new members to our new forum, I'd be interesting in everyone answering 3 questions;
Who were you in previous forums?Did you change your username? Might we know you from any other sport forum's?
What lead you to become a Phoenix fan? Student? Alum? Other?
How did you find this board?

I graduated from GB in 95, am a season ticket holder and have been viewing your postings for some time now. About a year or so ago I did an internet search looking for information and stumbled on the former forum.

as my name implies I am the original fan I have been to almost every home game since 1969. I graduated from UWGB in 1972. I now live in a different part of the state but continue to be a season ticket holder.
This could be a break out year for the Phoenix but I think they need a year of experience to really get it together
go phoenix

I've kept my username from the previous board. Readers of Brewerfan.net might recognize me as X ellence.
I created this site after another poster at the other forum suggested Proboards.
I've been a Phoenix fan since the Bennett days. As a youngster, my older brother told me when Dick got the job that he was goig to be a bigtime coach. He had season tickets when Tony was there, and took me numerous times. I'm now in my 3rd year as a season ticket holder. I've told my young sons the same thing about coach Wardle that my brother told me about Bennett all those years ago, and I mean it.

Still the same old uwgbphoenixphan from the old board Hopefully I'll be posting more now that I'm back in Green Bay. I moved to Madison last year but I am back and currently a student finally finishing up at UWGB (started in 07!), didnt make it to a single game last year and I missed it. I know not too many students show up but I try and make it to every home game. Its funny you made this board, I was in the process of making one myself cuz I wasnt sure if someone was going to haha, good work I like this one hopefully we can get some more people over here Since my 'Nix fandom didnt really start til 2007, my favorite basketball moment has to be the upset of Wisconsin in 2009, a day after my 21st birthday ;D what a great night rushing the floor that was Full disclosure, I grew up in the Milwaukee area so I have attended a few uwm games, including their 3 recent Horizon League championship games at the Cell. Since I started attended GB I have fully denounced them, and actually love beating them more than any other team in the conference, just for the pure joy of reading their message board afterwards ;D Hopefully in the near future we can host a HL championship game at the Resch. Cheers to a great season hopefully

I wasn't at the old boards, but I've been a devoted Phoenix fan since about 1990 or so and I was in 3rd grade back then.... I was a season ticket holder for a few years in the mid 200's and only gave them up when I moved to Ames, IA to attend Iowa State.
I made every attempt to attend as many games as possible since then and follow them at every turn. I really think Wardle is building something great here and doing it the right way as well. I can't wait to see what Turner and Brown have in store for us this season!! Go nix!

There is something I do not quite understand about the workings of this board. How do you create a new topic? I am logged in and I clicked on new topic but nothing happens.
any suggestions?

Those of you who read the UWMFreak forum or come to my website PantherU.com know me as Jimmy Lemke, the now former leader of the student section at Milwaukee and now proud alum.
I don't know if I was blocked from the old site or it's just terribly difficult to sign on, but I'm glad you guys finally put together a new board; it's hard to read and not be able to chime in.
I'll be more of a friendly outsider (even though we're fierce rivals) on this board since it is, as they say, "your house." I'm glad that there's a board that now has some new faces (or is it phaces) and I'll be sure to share the link to this board on all the other Horizon League fan boards.
As far as my connection with the Phoenix, I have family littered around the area up there who I share a fun rivalry with three times a year (basketball games and the Chancellor's Cup).
I'm a big fan of Brian Wardle, who was always willing to talk to me while I was student sports editor at the UWM Post and he was an assistant under Kowalczyk. I think uwgbphoenixphan is right, Wardle is going to be a star in the future among the coaching ranks and I'm glad he's coaching a Horizon League school.
Also a big fan of Alec Brown, who I think is a special player in the making. I am the Horizon League correspondent at RushTheCourt.net, and I think you'll be pleased to see what I say about Brown in the conference preview that should be up some time today!
Jarvis Williams is a stud, I hope for his sake that he can play the "3" this season, his natural position. I felt some times last season that the lack of strong post play outside Brown forced Williams into a role not suited to him.
Good luck this season Phoenix. I'll be dropping in occasionally to post my thoughts.

Below and to the right of where it says new topic is a small print "new thread". Click there. It's small and difficult to see. I will try to address that, thanks.

Welcome aboard Jimmy, and thanks for sharing our link. I'll be adding a list of links shortly, I'll be sure sure to put yours at the top, you run a great site. I do think you are correct, the sign up at our previous site was holding it back. I think the automated activation key either wasn't being sent (I had to sign up 3 times before I received one)or was getting stuck in many peoples spam filter. That doesn't appear to be an issue here so far, and if it does, I have a plan the might remedy that.

I became a Phoenix fan when I was in high school. That was during the early 90's and I liked that they were underdogs, I have always liked the underdog. I attended and graduated from UWGB.

have the same name in the other forum. I became a fan because of my dad who grew up in green bay and lived next to lambeau and the brown county arena and always went to games as a kid then moved to bout 20miles east of wausau for work so me and him started going for the last ten years or so and just fell in love with the program. I would love to be a season ticket holder but being about an hour away and with work and college it would be pointless.

I'm a 1997 graduate of UWGB, but a first became a fan when I saw my first game (UWGB and SW Misourt St. from the old AMCU-8 days) at the BCA back in 1988 when Tony Bennett was a Freshman....I saw the TB era as well as the Jeff Nordgaard era in my time at UWGB.....I've seen what this program is capable of (like beating Jason Kidd and Cal back in 1994), and how low it had gone (see Mike Heideman's last season at GB).....Can we get back to the NCAA's???
