Bracket projections are just starting to come out. Jerry Palm of CBS Sports has the Phoenix as a 13 seed. That seems very realistic. Obviously we'd like to roll through conference play and move up to a 12. Is there a preferred destination? Milwaukee is hosting, but they have 8-9 and 1-16 seeded games. That doesn't fit Green Bay. It's early, but with a team as good as this one it's never to early to start thinking about the Big Dance.

My guess is right now we're a 13-14 if the season ended. If we do roll through Conference and win post season Tourney a 12 is very realistic. If we don't I'll be very disappointed.

It is fun to think about the possibility of going to the Big Dance again. At this point in time they have 3 losses that I think we will look back on say were to good teams. It sucks because the UW and Harvard games were going GB’s way fairly late in the game.
The hard part is from here out there are 16+ HL games, Chicago St and a non D1 game to be played. In truth the HL hasn’t done their work during this non con schedule and that is probably going to hurt any potential seed GB would receive if they make it to the tournament.
In looking at the brackets with the wins the Phoenix have and the potential wins they could have the rest of the way they are looking at 12 to 15 seeds. I am of the belief they might be on the lower end of that when it is all said and done.
So based on what CBS has the South Region has 12 and 13 games in Spokane. It had 14 in San Antonio and 15 in St. Louis.
CBS has the West Region 12 and 13 games in Orlando, the 14 in San Antonio and the 15 in St. Louis.
CBS has the East Region 12 and 13 games in Spokane, the 14 in Orlando and the 15 in Buffalo.
CBS has the Midwest Region 12 and 13 in San Diego with the 14 and 15 in Raleigh.
From the stand point of a good place to go it would be fun to go to San Antonio, Orlando or San Diego. From an easy to get to stand point I could drive to Milwaukee, St. Louis, Buffalo or even Raleigh. So that would leave Spokane as neither fun nor easy to get to destination. With that said I would go wherever they play and have a good time doing it.
So with that in mind I would say as a fan it would be a desirable destination if they are a 15 seed in the south. That would be St. Louis and Memphis if they are still going.
For a 14 seed I would want the East. Going to Orlando is easy and has plenty to do but the thought of a big tournament run and playing in Madison Square Garden is too much to pass up of the 14 seeds.
For a 12 or 13 seed I would want the Midwest. Starting out in San Diego is a place that seems primed for the classic late night west coast Cinderella but adds warmth and night life to mix if they don’t win. If they are still going past the first weekend then coming back to Indy where seats are plentiful and costs are easy on my wallet is good thing.

I want a play in game in Dayton or a first round game in St. Louis!!! I love the idea of being able to drive to a game but I would feel really cheated if they got a play in game and didn't win. Thankfully they won't be good enough to be part of the last 4 at large teams in and they won't be bad enough to be part of the last 4 automatic teams in.

You guys are ridiculous sometimes. Come out of your caves every now and then GB's schedule isn't much better than many HL teams
Oakland played #12 UNC, #24 UCLA, #15 Gonzaga,Indiana,EMU,#5 Mich State Valpo ILL and UCF Milwaukee #4 Wisco, Bradley, San Jose State Youngstown St. John's, Pitt, Umass Cleveland St #3 Kentucky and EMU Wright State Georgetown and DePaul Detroit #19 UConn and NC State UIC Illinois
Some of the teams aren't ranked but still really good programs. They're still scheduling good games. Some that GB fans could only dream of.

Green Bay has a significantly higher RPI than the rest of the conference because it actually won. GB doesn't have a bad loss, and beat Virginia. It's pretty easy to understand how Palm has them as a 13 seed

"Long post, threw some ridicule around, but what was your point?" Thanks ShootingtheJ the answer is it had no point because unless you win or are in the game until the last minute it means nothing. Some of the games he talks about were blow outs. "Green Bay has a significantly higher RPI than the rest of the conference because it actually won. GB doesn't have a bad loss, and beat Virginia. It's pretty easy to understand how Palm has them as a 13 seed" Like fansincebuss said lets take care of business by winning agaist CSU. Then we can talk about winning the conference and tourney. Until then it's only speculation. Go Phoenix 1 win at a time and when your done we'll add them up. Every team will try to play their best game against us so never let up. This year who ever beats the Phoenix it will be the highlight of there season. 1/10/2014 CBS now has GB projected as a 12. www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology

They're still scheduling good games. Some that GB fans could only dream of. The Horizon League as a whole didn't do their work in the non conference schedule. It wasn't from a lack of trying, most teams scheduled well. I would say only WSU was on the light side. The issue is of the games you named the HL only has 2 wins. Plus the league as a whole went 4-13 against the MAC. Let me repeat that, 4-13 against the MAC! That isn't good. The league was 3-4 vs the MVC, 1-2 vs the A10 and 2-3 vs the American. They did well against weaker leagues like the OVC (6-3) and CUSA (3-1). The league was 3-2 vs the CAA with all 3 wins against James Madison. The league was 4-1 vs the NEC but 3 wins came against Robert Morris. The HL is projected to be 16th in the conference RPI. That comes from a lack of winning not a lack of scheduling. If GB made the tournament this year coming from the 16th rated conference isn't going to help the seeding much.

Let's beat Cleveland State on January 2nd before we book any flights. I was a little too excited but I can't help it. In the last 5 years I have been to 10 different states to GB games. That was for conference tournaments, early season tournaments and bracket buster games. If they actually made the dance there is not much that would keep me from going.

After a long time it feels nice to think about the NCAA tournament in realistic terms. The team definitely has the talent and desire to do it and would be a huge boost to the program to have sustained success again.
As for the games the HL teams scheduled against top teams from BCS conferences I believe GB is the only one that won a game. However, Cleveland State should have beaten KY if the refs had not robbed them of the victory. So scheduling the games is great but winning them is even better for the conference.

Let's beat Cleveland State on January 2nd before we book any flights. Well, since we last discussed this, the Phoenix beat St. Francis by 50, Cleveland St. By 11, and YSU by 16. Can we talk about the possibility of the Big Dance now? I'm sure you'll say yes, so I'll just go on. Jerry Palm has his new bracket out. Green Bay still a 13, now facing Colorado but still in Orlando. GB just needs to keep taking care of business, and higher seeded teams will open the door to move up on their own.

Jerry Palm updated his bracket Friday, and moved Green Bay up to a 12 seed. We'd play Kansas in Spokane. Moving up to a 12 is huge, as 12 seeds win 50% of the time.
Who did we jump over to move up? Toledo, after they game up 60% shooting in a loss at Western Michigan.
