I don't think we talked about this but the team is packing up soon for a trip to the Bahamas. That seemed to come out of no where. While maybe not the big cultural trip that other schools take to Europe or Asia it certainly is good that the team had 10 more practice sessions and gets several live games in. To me this trip signals the NCAA or Bust mentality that staff should have. It would seem you only do a trip like this if you are trying to get the team ready to come out strong all season.
I will be curious to see the reports on how they play.
I see on twitter that CSU is on a trip and I really like their team this year. It is good that they aren't getting a leg up on GB right now.

It looks like the recruits are allowed to make the trip. This should be good for team chemistry. You combine this with the early season tournament trips to Atlanta and Alaska and the team should be ready for any situation the league schedule presents.

This trip is huge for the team. For a number of years now the surprise team in the HL has been a team coming off an offseason trip, including WSU last year. 10 extra practices is HUGE. The games are a nice bonus too. The Nix have started the season slow under Wardle, look for that to change this year.

The Bahamas All-Stars lost to Maryland by 4, and have a few wins over D1 teams, so they're very worthwhile competition. I don't know how the other 2 teams stack up. Surprise of last nights game? Josh Humphrey was 2-2 from 3 point range. He's playing very well overall, I don't think there's any questions about the rest of his game, it's just matter if he can be enough of a threat to keep defenses honest. The 3 point shooting is a great start.

The 3 point shooting is a great start. I had checked them out and they have played some highly rated teams very close. That is amazing on Josh I remember his shot from before and it was pure ugly. Nice to see he's worked very hard to get it refined. I also saw Fouse hit at least 1 3pter so that's good too.

The Nix sweep the exhibition games. www.fibalivestats.com/matches/17554/08/64/47/48nKHHNTjDHM/The team has a lot of talent. Alec Brown's injury kept him off the floor. On paper he is the team's best three point shooter. Someone needs to step up in that category for GB to reach full potential. Three point shooting on this trip was woeful. That said lots to build on.

What is the injury to Alec?? Was it something minor that BW took a conservative approach on and not risking him for the season preparation?

I was on vacation last week and was out of touch. However, I am caught up now. I looked at all of the videos, stats and photos. It is a good sign that they did well without Alec. It is good that they didn't just rely on Sykes for 40 minutes a game. It is good that Greg Mays and Al McKinnie came ready to play. McKinnie in particular showed a lot of versatility, just needs to stop fouling. I liked that Lowe was on the glass even if the rest of his game kind of struggled. I liked that Findlay didn't take any 3's and had the 2nd most assists on the team, based on stats that seems like he played within himself. It was good for Josh to get on the glass and the 3's were nice but the rest of his shooting struggled. Fouse had a nice stat line except for shooting but I am not worried about a sophomore slump. Garrett could be a nice role player as well. I know Love has a lot more confidence, hopefully he gets his shot to fall when it counts.
After that trip I would say that GB has Sykes, Brown, Mays, McKinnie and Fouse as impact players. I would say Garrett, Love, Findlay and probably Fulton are rotation guys who can impact the game within their roles. I see Lowe and Humphrey as likely/capable to get up to the level and not just be energy/hustle guys. I am not sure where Botz and Turner fit at this point.
I do worry about the half court offense. If WSU is the consensus favorite at this point I am not sure how GB scores against their D unless Brown and Sykes really go off. I can't see WSU letting GB control the tempo and get up and down. I do see GB being able to implement their style against YSU, CSU, UDM, OU, VU, UIC and uwm. Of those teams I only really worry about CSU being able to keep up.
