Another tough match-up tonight versus a NCAA tourney team a year ago. Phoenix will need to use their size advantage to keeo it close. Here's Rob D's game preview.

Vegas has us as 9 point dogs. Hopefully Indiana State will be looking past us for their Orlando tournament this weekend ;D

It's back, that frustrating feeling of being a Phoenix fan. Just a tough loss to take. Up two Cougill misses the front end of the 1 and 1. Instead of being up 3 or 4, ISU comes right down to hit a very tough 3 and now GB is down 1.
Aarmstead and Cerroni gave GB very little in this game. Baker and Johnson looked very comfortable out there. Johnson in particular was in the lane a lot making plays. Sykes didn't impress a whole on lot offense but given the other guards played even worse it was hard to take him out. Paging Jarvis Williams, the Phoenix need a big bounce back from you.
So close yet so far, good effort against a good team. ISU had some nice inside players, they gave GB trouble.

It tough being a young team with no one with more than 1 year of division 1 basketball and expect to win on the road. I'm going to hold back on getting frusterated this year as long as I see Wardel laying the foundation for the program that he says he will lay.
Rebounding Defense
on top of that better class coming in next year.
I'd like to see them add a third item to the teams identity and work on better shot selection. Still some guys chucking up to many threes, and not working for a shot.
Keep defending the home court.

I thought Aarmstead and Heuer both forced most of their shots without really working to get open. Also, I am ready to see more of Greg Mays. In his little bit of time last night he did some good things offensively. I know Wardle said he has a way to go defensively but he just strikes me as the kind of guy who will make rapid improvement with game play.

I just checked the box score, didn't realize they eclipsed that number again last night.
21 three pointers shot in that game. I didn't see the game, but that right there tells me we weren't working hard enough moving the ball around and getting open.
10 minutes seems to be what Mays will get.
Cougill has to get atleast 20. Brown will get over 30 and Turner will continue to get 25ish. Seems like he is next in line after those three for front court.
I only saw the boxscores, and watched north dakota state and wyoming game. Does anyone know the reason for the starting lineup change ?
It was cool to see Dick Bennett in the intro video.
=============== one last thing to note : based on productivity per minutes played, Cougill is number one by far right now. Interesting to see if that holds for the remainder of the season.
