Valparaiso (23-7, 12-3) @ Green Bay (16-13, 10-5) Saturday, 2:00, The Resch Center TV: ESPNU
Big game. Huge seeding implications for GB. Staying on the opposite side of the conference tournament bracket keeps GB away from a true road game untill the championship. If Vaplo gets upset in the semi-final, Green Bay will then host the championship if they make it there.
Valpo is a worthy champion so this game will be a battle.

This is a huge game and I hope Alec comes out with the same mindset he did against Milwaukee. When he had the ball he looked confident and had a plan. He is talented and I do not see how anyone in the Horizon can match up to him including Valpo.

Excited for this game!!! I transferred this year from GB to Whitewater, and am specifically coming home for this game, no chance I'd be missing it!

Wright State tips off an hour before GB. Not that the players will know but for the fans we will know by half time just how big a win is for the standings.
Either way I would like a win. On top of a win guaranting a bye and avoiding Valpo to the final game, it might put a little doubt in Valpo's players heads that they can beat GB if the Phoenix go that far in the HL tournament.

Game day! I predict victory! I hope you're right. They should look at today as the 1st tournament game.

Valpo took us to the shed. Outplayed and outcoached. Wardle has to scrap whatever defensive plan they had today. Now that we have UWM on Tuesday, I kind of hope they play it at the Kress. Can't imagine a huge crowd for a 1st round Horizon League game

Taken to the shed, schooled, whipped, treated like the wrong side of the family. The Nix have to be better than that.

I went, I watched, I don't know why I stayed to the end. Valpo looked like they should be rated #1 in the nation. We looked slow and out of position. The only thing worse was the officiating. Sorry it's the truth and maybe the largest crowd since the Marquette game.

That was a painful game to watch.....Even since the TK era, when GB needed to win a big HL conference game, this program has come up short, and some occasions barely showed up and got embarrassed by the competition. I don't understand the defensive game plan by BW; Valpo shot over 60% from the field while Valpo's scoring leaders were Matt Kenney and Bobby Capobianco, 2 guys who are normally role players.
Again, Alec Brown was barely a factor until after the game was basically decided.
This team is maddening to watch, whether it is BW not adjusting tactically to game situations, or a lack of effort or basketball awareness by the team.....or both.
Looking at the HL tourney bracket, GB has 2 winnable games, UWM then the CSU/UIC winner at the ARC in Valpo.....Can GB somehow get a CBI or CI bid if they got to the HL semis and lose to Valpo??

Can't imagine a huge crowd for a 1st round Horizon League game I'm thankful it's a Tuesday game because UWM travels well. Last Tuesdays game had a lot of Black/Yellow dressed people and they were guaranteed last place. The Green Bay area needs to show up and support UWGB! That includes the student section. At Saturdays game a Valpo a person asked us why so few students, we told them today was a good turnout. Why I don't know because years ago when we had less students both ends used to be full at the Arena? The Kress would be fine if it had 2,000 more seats and parking. We have 7 season tickets and went to 1 game and never will go to another one there. We're 5 rows up from the floor at the Resch and in the nosebleed section at the Kress? Plus 30-45 min. to get out of parking lot and leave.

There was a lot to hate about yesterday's game.
For next year, they need to figure out ways of springing Stefan open more often. He's got a chance to be the guy that opens things up for others. Obviously, he'll need to step up the other parts of his game for more playing time.
The only good news, next year Valpo loses most of their guys and GB will be the experienced team. Some soul searching needs to be done after this game though, just terrible in every aspect.

I worry that the dead atmosphere may bring GB down to UWM's level. The only way to inject some instant energy is by going to the students. There is no way the general public is making an investment going to a Tuesday game. Agreed, Kress is not a viable home for all games, but this might be one of those exceptions. I know its too late to change, but I just don't want to see an embarrassing attendance on Tue.

He didn't cost them the game by any means but the Steve Skiles show was on full display yesterday. That guy made so many bad calls, it is unreal that he can work at the D1 level.
As for the game the offense was too simple to score against the valpo zone in the 1st half. In the second half the defense didn't have any discipline. If I have to see a GB player running and jumping at a corner 3 again and then just having the shooter pump fake and make an open shot it will be too soon.
Next year Love and Arenz really need to step up their offensive games. It was a struggle to see those guys in the game.
As for Tuesday no matter what the crowd is like they need to win. The bracket still looks favorable in terms of getting some wins and giving themselves a chance. I am not trying to look ahead, just that the season isn't over despite the sour taste that yesterday gave me.
