Green Bay (6-8) @ Detroit (9-5) Saturday, January 5, 1:00 TV: Time Warner Cable Channel 310
Last time I had no hope entering a game, the Phoenix rose up and beat Marquette. The team needs to rise up again. Detroit plays a sloppy brand of basketball, they don't have the excellence of execution WSU had, so that should make it a better match-up for the Nix. Detroit does have some outstanding indivual talents, lead by Ray Jr.
Take note that the game is on an alternate TV channel today.

Entertaining first half, GB down 42-37. Seems like their making some silly mental mistakes: 10 turnovers in the first half, foul trouble, and leaving their feet on almost every pump fake. Hopefully Cerroni can get going, he hit a huge three before the halftime buzzer. I'm glad to see them hanging around, hopefully they can find a way to win

Well it was a game that was fun to watch, for mid major teams the lineups that were playing were highly athletic. The turnover issue and some free throw misses seemed to bite GB a little bit. Plus it was a game of runs, every time one team had a lead the other answered. The problem was Detroit answered an early 6 point margin by taking an 8 or 9 point lead and GB could never get over the hump even though they got back to even several times.
It goes without saying that Mays was a monster and played within himself at his highest possible level. Keifer and Alec were consistent all game and played like high level players. It doesn't help that guys like Love and Fouse are athletic but a bit behind in experience and development compared the Detroit players. Cougs was fantastic in the WSU game but the Detroit game doesn't suit him and he was a non factor. Cole didn't finish but he shook off a little more rust. I see him making a Sultan like impact in the near future.
I would say right now that Detroit has the highest ceiling in the league this year. The future should be now but this game made me feel like GB has some great pieces in place and could have a similar ceiling.

Also, I only saw a few brief shots but was Coach K sitting in the bleachers behind the GB bench? If not the guy looked like his twin brother.

Perhaps the rules have recently changed, and unless there are unusual circumstances, i.e. teams are involved in the same tournament, I don't think College coaches can personally attend/scout other teams games. I could be wrong on this.

I could be wrong on this. I didn't know that rule. I saw a guy that looked kind of like him and since he is only an hour away I thought I would throw the question out there. I doubt he would break a rule to watch his protege.

It just bothers me that even since the TK era that GB is atrocious on the road.....Is it a preparation issue? After all the years under TK and now year 3 of the BW era, we still can't figure it out.
I know there have been injuries/suspensions, but it feels like this team should be better than they should....Seeing UIC, Loyola, and Wright State suddenly come from the basement last season to fast starts this season while we're near the bottom with UWM is infuriating. At this rate, we'll be lucky to get a CBI or CIT bid.
