Not sure that Brown should be so low on the top big men report. Zeke Marshall is one example of a guy ranked ahead of AB that is certainly not better than AB. I think AB is getting press so every list contains him even if the author hasn't watched him play much.

The benefit is, that other teams are doing the same thing that is happening on this message board. Giving all the hype to Alec. Then comes Cougill who is a better three point shooter and has a better touch as a passer. Even his handle on the ball, and ability to body larger offensive players. I like Alec alot and think he will make it to the NBA, but at the college level, with cougill always getting the poorer defender and dropping weight this offseason, There might be a debate that the value to the team between the 2 players isn't that big. Even tho Cougill is better suited to play in Europe after college.
There were obvious times last year that Cougill took over because teams over emphasized stopping Alec.

Big weekend for the big guy! Congratulations to Alec for joining the 1000 point club. Also on getting his (surprisingly) first Horizon League POTW award. This is the Alec that we expected all season so hopefully he can keep his high level of play going the rest of the season, we'll need it!

My first post on the board. We have a great team but don't you think Alec has really underachieved this year? A legit 7 footer and is 3rd in rebounding on his own team. Not to mention the turnovers and drop in shooting %. He should be at least 55%. I think we can win the tourney if he steps up to the plate and delivers like a 7 foot big mam should.

I think this observation is a couple months too late. He had a very rough start of the year, but is playing like a star lately. Look at his stats in conference play, averaging 16pts and almost 3 blocks while shooting 48% and 42% from 3. The one area he's struggling is rebounding but I think there are a couple factors working against him there. One being that Fouse is an animal on the glass. 2 is that if you watch games, Alec is usually going for the block which puts him out of position to rebound. And 3 he's just not being aggressive enough. We'll see how it ends.

When it comes to rebounding Jordan has been a animal on the glass and other teams have focused on Alec all season. Mays has developed into a good player from last years role player. So more has to do with player improvement. Yes Alec will be a 1st round NBA and maybe a lottery pick next year and yes he still has things to work on.

Did not mean to make anyone think I was basing him, guess I presented wrong. Yes he is good, but yes he needs to improve his ball handling and he seems to lack the motor of top players.i know nothing is his pressures on or offhe floor?

Yes he is good, but yes he needs to improve his ball handling and he seems to lack the motor of top players.i know nothing is his pressures on or offhe floor? Np the last couple of games he's had a spin move where he gets the ball out on the wing fakes one way and drives 15-20' to the basket. So he is working on improving. He also had talked early in the year of how so much was expected and he was forcing plays. People were saying he was going to turn pro after junior year and he thought it was all up to him to win games. I'll agree he does have to hold onto the ball better but I've seen improvement the last 2 months. But he still needs to get better. You are right he needs to be more aggressive. But with the officials we have as soon as he pushes back they call him for a foul. Many times I think the official calls him for a little push when on the other end he's getting mugged. Just my opinion we all have them. I think you did start a good discussion and welcome to the board.

I think Alec has put a lot of pressure on himself this year. At times he didn't look like he was having fun in the games to start the year. So much talk by fans, agents, scouts and Wardle was quick to get on him in games. He looks like a guy who internalizes a lot of things. That kind of attention seems like a lot for him to deal with. I thought that in the post game conference after the win on Tuesday that was the most lively he has been all year. He seemed like a different guy and it was great to see that.
As a player Alec is the one guy in this league that will never get a clean entry to the post and when he does get the ball he will always get at least a double team. That is a lot for him to deal with. Yet as the season has gone on he has found ways to get better offensively and get his defense back. I look at him play and I think he is a borderline NBA player. In a more open game where he is not the focus he probably could contribute in some way because he has two way skills.
I am glad he is at GB, that he is coming on strong to end the year and that most likely he will be playing his senior year in college where he belongs.

Sadly he struggled to start the year, but now has come around. Luckily he has one year left to get that draft stock up. I really do think that he could be a serviceable 4 in the association. With his outside shooting ability, he could help some team out, could seem him hang around for a while.

I really hope he sticks around. If this team stays together and does some good off-season work, they've got a chance to be the best GB team in 20 years in '13-'14. This year isn't hopeless either, but as a team they still have some growing up to do.
Next year, if nobody unexpectedly leaves, this will be an older experienced team. You'll have seniors and juniors at every spot except Fouse's. You'll have some experienced guys coming off the bench as well. Outside shooting is still a question mark going into next year, but a guy like Stefan will be more ready than he was this year. If Brown sticks around, next year's team has a huge upside.

I would think there's a good chance Brown comes back with something to prove. That said, you do risk injury if you come back. I think he could play in Europe right now. I think he might need one more year of maturing for the NBA since he was so thin to start his college career.
I hope he comes back, but that said, I can't blame him if he thinks he's ready to take the Pro plunge right now.
