Thank you very little Charles Guthrie for partially setting this in motion. Nothing like firing Linc (should have given him one more year) and citing declining attendance for the LATE firing (in June 2020 after most other jobs and potential other candidates, have been filled…..and in the middle of the COVID pandemic no less), only to have worse attendance in the putrid Will Ryan era. If we want a good candidate pool, offering $175,000 is not going to cut it. I’ve seen Jimmie Fosters name being floated around, but he’s probably make close to that already at Bradley as BWs lead assistant. Need to. One up with more money this time around. Jimmy Foster was a final candidate last go around. Ties to the Milwaukee area as well. Brian Barone is another qualified candidate as well who is currently having success at SIUE as the HC. Why would he leave SIUE for GB?

Why would he leave SIUE for GB? Well he played ball at Marquette, from the area, has experience at Green Bay/ Horizon and GB could pay him more.

Why would he leave SIUE for GB? In simple terms because this is a better job. In more detail, it will pay more with better facilities and more support at every measurable level.

What about former Ohio coach Saul Phillips? Josh Moon hired him at Northern State. He did great at NDSU and was solid at Ohio. Don’t understand why his contract wasn’t renewed in 2019. It’s not like he suddenly went to a single-digit win team. But isn’t he and Will Ryan pretty tight since they worked together at NDSU and Ohio? I don’t see him coming to GB if he was offered.

I would think anyone on the Bo Ryan coaching tree will not be in the mix for obvious reasons.

Now on the hook for 500k over the next 3 years - is UWGB done paying Darner? Not sure how they are going to pay a quality coach. Mark Murphy should pay for it.

I am happy that Freddie Owens is getting his chance. I hope that he will coach with more passion than Ryan did and force his way into the coaching search. Does anyone think that just maybe the team was tanking. I never thought the team could be this bad. i guess we will find out on Thursday.

A corpse with their face rotted off could have shown more expression and emotion than Will. I remember a certain few of you on here, you know who you are, who whined about Linc merely SITTING in a chair on the sidelines, as if that was the prime signifier of how much passion he had. He had it. He used to sleep in his office and in the locker room many nights because he was there trying to figure stuff out. Random people in the stands against RMU that I was in earshot of, who I presume were more casuals, even pointed out how much more Pritzl and Owens looked like they cared compared to Will.

This is simply not true. Linc used to sleep in his office because he didn't buy a house in GB for several years lol

He wasn’t homeless.

Linc may have not have bought a house initially, but he eventually owned one up in Suamico.

Since this has turned into a Linc discussion, has anyone else who posts here heard the rumor that Bo Ryan was paying for Darner's buyout?

I'm totally kidding about his house, I thought the lol indicated it was a joke
Linc's work ethic and desire will never be questioned by me.

I'm almost sure you're joking, but no, I've never heard that from anyone in the know. Unless they're too embarrassed to let that leak out, everyone I know in and around the program has never mentioned that. 100% out of the realm of possibility? No, I suppose. This program is a parody of a an institution and basketball operation, so I guess I would never say never, but nothing I've heard would indicate that

That one seems to be making the rounds. I have no reason to believe or disbelieve, which is why I asked.
