If this doesn’t get Will Ryan fired I don’t know what does. They legit look like a d-3 program right now. This is beyond embarrassing at this point This is disparaging to most D3 teams. I watch D3 basketball regularly and it’s nowhere near this bad. UWGB may be St. Norbert's worst loss of the season.

I have watched the Phoenix since the days of Dave Buss. This is easily the poorest coached team I’ve ever witnessed. From their total lack of offense, to their pathetic defense, and especially their inexcusable rebounding plan, this team just doesn’t have a chance. What players are going to want to stick around for another year or two? What players will want to come for this? It has nothing to do with a lack of money for the program - I would guess that there are a handful of area high school coaches who would be able to coach this same team up better. As bad as the teams played in the first half, the fans tried to cheer the Phoenix back into the game at 17-19, but a missed layup and zero 2nd half game plan put a quick end to any possible excitement. Both the players and us fans deserve better than this abomination.

This home stand is honestly grounds for being fired mid season. If I thought there was an assistant on the staff capable of coaching this team any better, I’d be all for it. Unfortunately that’s not the case and Ryan will certainly be here for the rest of the season. But there’s no possible way he can be back next season. If he’s fired and the entire team transfers, I view that as a good thing. This team needs a total reboot with a coach who knows how to recruit and win at this level. So sad seeing what this team has become.

I probably should leave the bar and head home now...
The first half wasn't pretty but it was fun. The second half was neither pretty or fun.
Cade was hurt but seems likely to return soon. Sadly a career high game still wouldn't have been enough.
It isn't fun seeing the team struggle. So much goes into trying to win, it hurts seeing the toll that coming up short is taking on everyone.

Will Ryan cannot last another season. Don’t care about the lineage with Bo, or what the previous AD and coaching regimes left him. He is a bad coach. He’s making Dick Lien look good right now. I saw a friends FB post and had a wide angle shot of the attendance at the Resch Center. Pathetic. It's looking good for Dick Lien to remove his name from worst season in history - he has a 2 game lead in the win column at this point. When's the last time you saw 54 comments under a men's basketball Facebook posting?

When's the last time you saw 54 comments under a men's basketball Facebook posting? Yeah the comments are Facebook are the most I’ve seen since the team made the NCAA Tournament in 2016. And even then I think there are more here for this embarrassing loss. It’s one thing to have the inferior team talent wise, which GB has in basically every game save for a couple (still think this team can lose to IUPUI, who has been competing last few games. Almost beat Oakland.), but it’s been the same theme under Ryan. Second half collapse. Zero adjustments. No energy. That to me, is 100% coaching. The program is undoubtedly at the lowest point in program history. Most these kids are not D1 talent, so I feel for them in this situation. That’s on the coaches for bringing them here.

I thought the sequence to end the first half perfectly summed up the current state of the program. They’re down 2 and RMU has the ball after Tucker made a nice mid range jumper on the wing with under a minute left. Crowd is into the game and actually getting loud, largely thanks to Freddie Owens getting fired up and urging everyone else to do the same. GB gets a couple of stops including a big steal with 5 seconds left only to blow the wide open layup at the buzzer that would’ve tied it.
Even when things go right it seems like they unfortunately find a way to mess it up.

Nobody should feel bad for the players. They are here by choice and been given an opportunity to play D1. Some of these guys are literally learning to dive on the floor after a ball for the first time. I'm not sure what punch will be the one that gets the heart and execution to meet up but there are deficiencies on both sides.
The Twitter and Facebook comments are lame. There are people harboring longstanding hate and misinformation about the program. I can appreciate them following the social media accounts but they need to bring a lot more to the table than that. When they hire a different coach everyone of those people should buy tickets or stop pretending to care.
I forgot to mention in my previous post. We had an assistant coach pumping up the crowd, a missed fast break layup, a ref fall on the floor in the middle of a play and nearly had a fight break out. This game checked a lot of random shit happening boxes.

I’ve been to three games this year and plan to attend a fourth unfortunately.
I don’t think it’s unfair to want what’s best for the program and Will Ryan ain’t it.
I’d honestly be fine with letting Freddie Owens take over the reins the last month and if the team shows something give him a two year deal as head coach next year.

When they hire a different coach everyone of those people should buy tickets or stop pretending to care. I completely disagree with this. If you want people to spend their money - with disposable income becoming less every day - you need to have a product worth spending it on first. Not everybody flocked to the Arena when Dick Bennett started. The university needs to make a major financial commitment to get a quality coach and then the community will take it seriously again. This thought process is the same as the Press-Gazette begging people to "support local journalism," yet they keep making their product crappier and crappier but more expensive to buy. It is nonsense. It is obvious by the social media comments that people still do actually care. They don't care enough to pay money to support it...right now. Can you blame them?

The cost of games are also ridiculous given the product.
20 bucks apiece so for a family of four that’s 80 bucks if you don’t spend a dime on anything else there. For a two win team that is insanity to spend that kind of money when you could take the family out for a nice dinner instead for that kind of scratch.
People speak with their wallets and it’s clear people don’t want to pay to watch this crap. The only reason I went to 3 games this year was for a catch up with a co worker night twice and the other was to see Amari Davis.
I was planning on taking a buddy to see the Fort Wayne game visiting from Madison but I’m very embarrassed to do so for fear of him never wanting to go back to another game.

If you don't want to go watch the team anymore this season that is fine. There were people posting pictures of the Brown County Arena, talking about Bothof, mad about Linc getting the job over Gary, talking about secrecy about Linc being removed and not acknowledging Gary turned them down in 2020. All of that shit is ancient history. If you care enough to post some smack about a change then you damn sure better be there when they make the change you want. Otherwise those same people are going to find something new to bitch about with the team. It's never going to be perfect for everyone. They can't change the missteps of the past. However people who say they care can damn sure find it within themselves to do something more than talk shit on Facebook and Twitter. When Linc was removed national media people chime in about what is happening and who is going to replace him. They become a GB expert for 2 weeks and then return to their normal routine. These social media commenters are no different, it's just words with no action.

Most people will not spend their money until it is justified doing so. Not because the university or fanboys think they should. What has the university done recently where people should throw money at it blindly? Invest in the program and do it right for once and the community support will organically take care of itself.
