Depending on who you ask, GB is either playing Detroit or Detroit Mercy on Thursday at 6pm. By any name the Titans still have Antoine Davis. The last time GB played AD in the Horizon League Tournament he went absolutely nuts. It was a pretty impressive display of offensive skill. The titans have added a super athletic forward named Gerald Liddell. He is averaging 18 points and 14 rebounds in the six games he has played. He is long and isn't a great shooter but 14 rebounds is an issue that this GB roster may not be equipped to handle.
Jayden Stone is another nice player for the Titans. When healthy he is a do it all guard that takes pressure off of AD. He had a great start to the year but with Liddell getting eligible and his own illness or injury he has faded a bit as conference play resumes. Hopefully he doesn't find his way until after GB has left Calihan Hall.
The rest of the roster is filled with guys that have played for bigger schools but haven't been able to make a huge impact. The best of the rest is probably Damezi Anderson. He is a bigger forward that pretty much only shoots 3's.
As for GB the last we saw them against Oregon State they put on a decent performance. When things were about to go off the ISU/Georgetown/UtahValley/Loyola/Stanford rails, the team kept themselves together and actually reduced the lead down from 17 to 9 at the end. If any of that fight translates to the Motor City plus having a fresh start after 11 days off they have a chance to pick up a win this weekend. To get it against the Titans the defense needs to be much improved, especially from guarding the 3 point line. The Titans have shot a very solid 38% on the season. That is second best in the Horizon League. Meanwhile GB is 8th in the Horizon League in 3 point defense. Also, GB is in last in the Horizon League in almost every rebounding category. Detroit averages about 9 more per game. Brock and Cade combine to average 6 per game. Umm, that needs to be a lot higher ASAP. The good news is Cade has been much better of late and Brock has shown signs. However, if they want to win some conference games these guys need to kick butt on the glass every game.
ESPN has this as a 4% chance to win for GB. I didn't look for any gambling information.
