I think this board needs to post its scouting report earlier - this St. Thomas thread did not start until game day, which did not give the coaching staff time to develop a defensive game plan. This was evidenced in St. Thomas making consecutive 3-point shots with its first 3 offensive possessions.
Did you hear the TV announcer talking about Linc and his record? He described how we fired him with a record of XX-XX and Coach Ryan is 15-50 and the guy says like "be careful what you ask for" or something, haha. But he doesn't know about the specs of Linc's contract, which should have gotten someone sued for breach of fiduciary duty.
We had beat the worst team in the country, got thrashed at Loyola, then beat KC at home. Hopefully no one thinks that meant our problems were "fixed"? In the last 2 games we've grabbed 7 offensive rebound and given up 32.
Donovan Short got 6 minutes last night. I know the response on here is going to be oh, but Brock and Cade are playing so well. So "player development" may be a mutually exclusive exercise? Should he have red-shirted?
OK, positive comment - Zae Blake had 7 assists in the game last night, which is a huge number for us for a single guy. Of course we're missing other guards, but still.

It cost UWGB $720,000 it doesn't have to go 15-50 over the last 65 games.

Since we paid Linc Darner and Will Ryan both, we should be able to afford to pay a head coach 390,000 correct in the future right?
240K for Linc and 150K for Will.
Makes sense? Not going to happen IMO

The comment about being careful what you wish for is funny. Was anyone really wishing for Linc to be removed from the job? There were people that didn't like that era but there certainly wasn't a movement to get him out of here. Well one person on here did say a few things about his health that weren't appreciated by the folks in the athletic office from what I recall but other than that there wasn't a lot of deep negativity.
I wrote one post after a game in his last year about it might be time to move on. It was mostly a joke and came on the heels of what seemed like a low point for the program. I don't delete posts after the fact but if I only knew what would happen I wouldn't have even joked about it back then.
We still don't know where the money came from or why they moved on from Darner. Paying a bunch of money so that they didn't have to pay more money is an interesting strategy.
I do know this much. Whenever the time comes that GB is searching for a coach again they need a much larger salary pool than what is currently available. The money is there from a university level, I have no doubt about that. The university has to understand why it is important to allocate it to that purpose, which is a more difficult conversation.

I can think of one: Charles Guthrie. I was at the exhibition against St. Norbert that year when walking off the floor after the game Guthrie giving Grzesk a big bro hug in front of everybody. I thought it really odd at the time but it made more sense when the axe swing. That end game didn't exactly go according to plan and what has happened since has happened. Administrative support, or lack thereof, is just as important as coaching.

Like rose and dailey are hurt. But nothing on Garren Davis. I didn’t watch last nights game. But I know he was not on the bench at home during umkc game. He had surgery during the offseason. Ziegler is day to day with the boot on the foot.

on Monday I wanted to watch some basketball' so I watched the Green Bay Cal game from the 1994 NCAA tournament. I forgot how good that team really was. It was fun to watch 5 guys who play together with the same goal to win. In this game I saw 2 screens being set to free up shooter and by the way they called screeners blockers. On defense the rotated and guarded the 3. This team was one of the top teams in the country in shooting percentage allowed. The biggest problem with this team is defense and the lack of a defensive system and giving up 48% 3 point shooting is not a good thing either. The sad part is he has the resources to correct this. I am sure if he reached out to Coach Bennett and his Father he could pick their brains. I am sure they would be willing to help or maybe he wants to have a fan base that thinks he is in over his head. I really do want this guy to succeed.

No word on Davis but I wouldn't read into his absence. He just had quotes in the Zae Blake article in the Press Gazette.
Blake, Rose and Heffner all missed games with an undisclosed illness and were not on the bench either.
The Bennett family does/has talked to Will Ryan. From what I understand they endorsed him for the job. Perhaps they could teach him how to get the guys to shoot a decent percentage from 3. Sometimes the offense has ineffective movement. There are more times when it leads to a good shot and a bad finish. I'm not sure how to fix that on the fly.

Ziegler is day to day with the boot on the foot. For what it's worth, Garren is featured in the promotional banner on the team website for the west coast swing. Unless that is an oversight, that probably means he is still affiliated with the team.
