Just imagine what it is like for those of us who were going to games in the Bennett Era. Heck, I'm old enough to remember when Dick Lien fainted not once but TWICE at his introductory press conference. I went to my first game in 92 against Northern Illinois. I have slight memories of watching games at the BCS but unfortunately don’t really remember the two tourney runs. I remember getting George Karl’s autograph in my Phoenix program which I used to get every game I went to. I had a Shaq Lakers jersey on. He told me next time wear a Bucks jersey. He was there to scout Wally S from Miami Ohio. I also remember them losing big to Butler in the conference final game at home. We also went when UIC hosted a few times and went to the triple ot loss to Butler in the semis where the final score was like 54-49. I’d kill for even a sniff of that now. Losing sucks. Losing big is brutal. Nothing beat a UWGB game at the Arena during the Bennett Era. Jam-packed crowds into the game. A rollicking band. Great teams coached by one of the best to ever do it. The house lights going dark just before tip-off. "Villianous" coaches like Charlie Spoonhour, Kevin Mackey, Jim Molinari, Bob Hallberg, etc. getting jeered all night by people holding paper cups of watered-down beer. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

The best I can tell about half of the people on this board no longer live in the greater Green Bay area. Many seem to live in places that attending the games is not realistic. Most of those people still seem to stream the games and comment here. The rest of the people on the board do report that they are going to games even if they are disgusted by it. The person I seem to tangle with the most on this board has indicated they don’t always live in the area, they hate the coaching situation and yet they still go to some home and away games. That commands more respect in my opinion than helping to burn down a program right by their house and then no longer showing up on a regular basis. I am not implying that any GB fan is lesser than myself. I am implying there are plenty of Panthers fans running their mouth right now that haven’t been there through the darkest days. That doesn’t seem to be the situation in GB right now. But alas that isn’t what this thread is about. PantherU showed up to deliver some energy to the game. Anyone that was around 10 to 20 years ago knows this was must see tv. Through a series to missteps by both schools and the league we are now reduced to thinking of the memories from games gone by and hoping that maybe this gets back to where it was. I do find it interesting that PantherU can deliver his jabs and that is good natured in his opinion. However, anyone that responds is being pissy. I think it is important to remember that you came here, nobody asked you to. So take the jabs of fair weather fan, from a team with no fans and no long term hope with the same grain of salt that your original post was in. As for the hoops question. The number of UWM turnovers isn’t what tells the story. It is the style of the game that will matter. In a high possession game UWM could still win with 25 plus turnovers. The best I can tell the turnovers are collateral damage of the system that Lundy seems like he can live with. Lundy may be the only coach in the country that would still play Browning in the game after some of the turnovers he had on Monday. If the game is played at a slower pace then 18 turnovers for UWM might be enough to undo them. I have watched enough UWM games to know that sometimes they are going to get a rebound and just throw it to the wrong team. They are going to dribble off of their foot or run people over. It is what it is and I don’t think they will clean it up. In many games they probably don’t have to. GB needs to keep the pace down, do their best to box out Rand on the offensive glass (fortunately being a team with bad help defense gives them a chance to do this lol) and minimize the number of live ball turnovers that they commit if they want to win the game. Of course St Thomas showed it would be helpful to have someone hit some 3’s. On another note, I see the satin jacket joke is back. I go to an unhealthy number of GB home games and I can say I haven’t seen one of those in years. Some jokes like to live in the past. I suppose from a user with the name spiritofbruce I should expect nothing less than living in the past. After all this is the 18th season that he has not been your head coach… Maybe the "spiritofbruce" is actually Bruce Vandenplas, hence the satin jacket connection. Now that is funny!

I'm not gonna lie I dig the satin jackets, I'd just want them in GB's current colors rather than the old stuff. The dark green is more "collegiate" if that makes any sense to anyone. If Milwaukee had satin jackets I'd absolutely own one.

Supply chains may not be what they were but this is a problem that could definitely be fixed with your own custom order online. $100 and a few copyright infringements has to be able to get this job done.

Word on the street is the logo with the Phoenix may be returning, or something modernized from the classic logo.

The BCA was an awesome home court advantage when full. Dick Lien fainting - more good stuff. If Ryan takes over Lien's spot as having the worst season ever, I honestly do want to buy the Dick Lien how-to-coach book and send it to him. Lien had 4 wins that year, so....

Do we know for sure if Zae Blake has returned from his Holiday?

Word on the street is the logo with the Phoenix may be returning, or something modernized from the classic logo. They’ve been wearing the bird logo during warmups so it does look like it is back in an updated form. Looks like they updated to the current font and got rid of the random red that looked like blood flowing from its neck.

**Unpopular opinion alert**
While they should have never switched from the bird logo in the first place, going back in a wide scale form is not a good use of energy and money.
I see the BS schedule that GB has to play to make money and facing that budget issue I see no value in switching back to the bird logo on a permanent basis. That is a use of money and energy that doesn't yield any more revenue back to the program. It is fine as an alternate logo but far from the biggest problem GB athletics is facing.
The red blood on then neck was actually a nod to the blood from every Panther carcass the Phoenix has feasted on over the years!!

The tournament was the Oneida Bingo and Casino Classic at the very end. I remember attending it over the holidays at both the BCA and the Resch when it just opened. Was a great way to see a couple of games with one ticket and move close for the first game. Heck I enjoyed seeing Colgate play CSUN a couple of years back as part of the Empire Classic. Not sure if hosting an event like this is feasible but I could see more teams playing in them somewhere in addition to an MTE. UTEP still does one around the Sun Bowl.

Woody did a helluva job getting teams for that tournament. Oneida's sponsorship was crucial to have enough guarantee money to get good teams in in those days. I remember Pete Carril and Princeton, John Beilein and Canisus, Lorenzo Romar and Pepperdine, and Phil Martelli and St. Joseph's to name a few. No money to hand out guarantees would preclude such a tournament ever returning here.

This team continues to be a bigger joke each game. I mean I know we are crunched for money but how do you watch this and keep this clown at coach?

At least my wallet likes the outcome. Another embarrassing performance. How long is Will really going to be allowed to remain at his post?

At the current pace the answer to the coaching question is the first week in March. If that is where your head is at, just patiently wait 3 months.
I am not pleased by the on court performance. My head is not on board with the coaching change discussion for reasons I've already stated.
In this game they did some things better but holy cow does the 3 point shooting leave a lot to be desired. You can't win if you can't score. I appreciate some guys took shots in this game that they previously were passing up. However, this game really highlighted that nobody on the team is reliable from deep.
The ball just got stuck on a side several times and if you don't move the defense it makes it super hard to make shots.
On a positive note most of the guys handled the press reasonably well. With that said I wouldn't mind seeing Zae Blake start. Last year I kind of went on a Kamari over Lucas holy war. I don't want to do that again this year but I feel like a lineup change certainly can't hurt at this point.
