David Skogman, Center, from Waukesha by way of the University of Buffalo is in the portal. He had an offer from GB out of high school. That familiarity with the program may make him someone to watch for. Skogman is going to Davidson.

And brother on GB staff last I checked. What a mentor Bennett would be for Meyer and Short. Wherever he goes you have to wish him well. Not only is his brother Sam on the staff, but the man who recruited him to Ohio, Will Ryan, is the Head Coach. All that said, I'm guessing he ends up at Virginia. He's a terrific player. Virginia it is.

Depending on how they want to use Jenkins this roster needs as many as two more ball handlers.
I'm sure Rosner will have a nice season in Macomb but I want to stay focused on guards that have more than one year left to play and can build continuity with the other young guys. Short, Daily, Meyer and Cummings all have at least 3 years to play. The best chance of winning is still in building a roster that can grow together over multiple seasons. I will feel differently when the young guys have another season or two under their belts.

With the portal closing soon I am thinking GB will start landing guys pretty soon.
In the game of musical chairs we are getting close to the time when the music stops. Guys who have been kicking the tires on multiple schools or always have new schools reach out are going to need to pick a place as new spots won't be opening as often.
I'm actually pretty confident right now that GB will land some impact players as the music stops.

This is getting more interesting by the day. I know in the social media world most of the attention is focused on the big schools. In the P6 there are 75 schools with 13ish scholarships to give out. That is 975 players. With players they already have and players they are bringing in from high school there aren't going to be that many spots left. In the portal you could make a reasonable case that BVP, Skogman and now Cartier could all give GB some consideration as a possible landing spot. The same can be said for guards such as Klesmit or Madsen. I have no clue who will fill the final 5 spots for GB. At least there are enough high level players with a reasonable connection to GB that could give the Phoenix a look if all of the high major spots are full. If you add a few of these guys to the guys GB already has, it would hard not to be optimistic about the results turning around in a hurry. It has been pretty quiet on the board for a few days I would be happy with any of the three bigs plus Klesmit and his brother the following year. They did not get any of the players I was hoping for. I guess they will need to find another way to please me. There are still a lot of players available in the transfer portal just not the ones I am most familiar with.

The JUCO point guard they offered is pretty good but to your point it's harder to get excited about a guy that you haven't see play in a D1 game before.

One thing I am preparing myself for is Donovan Ivory type guys. Well Ivory plus guys.
What I mean by that is coming off of a 5 win season it may be hard to get a guy that has proven D1 stats. I am expecting guys that look the part and need a chance like an Ivory. I'm also expecting guys that have played for other programs and put up stats but need a consistent role to show they are 10+ppg guy, I call this Ivory plus.

Yeah I am thinking the rest of the guys will be D1 or JUCO guys. For whatever reason a high school guy like Jack Rose isn't drawing much public interest from many schools these days. Think of a guy like Ryan Wade. He has contributed at the D1 level with Holy Cross but didn't get to play much last season at Central Michigan. Going back to the Ivory well, KaSean Pryor from Boise State didn't get to play much but has some game and would likely contribute in the Horizon League. From the Juco ranks a guy like Drew Lowder has contributed a little bit at Holy Cross and Eastern Michigan but has also been caught up in two coaching changes. I have no clue if GB is recruiting these guys. Wade and Lowder likely know Coach Owens through Holy Cross and Pryor played in high school with Lowder and against Wade. I used them as examples of guys that probably wouldn't excite people too much on paper but have a reasonable geographic and coaching connection to GB as well as would likely be able to look like competent D1 players if they find the right home. The top guy I want GB to get is maybe a 5ppg scorer from a D1 with 3 years left to play. He has done it at the D1 level, he just needs to find a home like in GB, that he would go from being at best the third option to a primary option. The other guy I want GB to get didn't play much for a pretty good D1 program but absolutely looks the part and any film on him makes you think he just needs a chance. He has 3 years to play as well and has the type of upside that would really excite fans.

I talked to Darrick Jones Jr. a 6’5 athletic guard from Towson really wants to go uwgb. Needs uwgb fans to retweet he highlights to go there. But low ppg. Former 3 star recruit. From oak hill academy big time prep school.

Jones is another great example of a guy that would be good if he had a chance.
Just an explosive player.
I'd like him but right now the team needs to get play makers.
With Cummings, Tucker, Davis and Daily the spot Jones plays would be crowded.

Zae Blake is the JUCO PG that GB offered recently. He played at Hargrave Military and is from Washington DC originally.
Darrick Jones Jr is from Richmond and played at Oak Hill.
Richmond to DC is 2 hours and Oak Hill and Hargrave are 2 hours from each other. I wonder if Jones interest in GB is related to Blake possibly joining.
By the way Blake is a really good passer. He would find our existing guys for easy looks.
