Familiar face joins Bollant's staff at Illinois
Celeste Ratka has a new last name and that’s not the only switch for her. The career path of the former University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women’s basketball star is changing as well. But even though she won’t be draining three-pointers, she’s sticking with the game of basketball. Ratka, known during her playing days as Celeste Hoewisch, is transitioning into coaching. She has retired as a player after a year of professional basketball in Europe and has joined University of Illinois women's basketball coach Matt Bollant’s staff as the program’s video coordinator. Phoenix Tops the WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor RollFor the second time in program history the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay women's basketball team finished its season ranked No. 1 in the WBCA (Women's Basketball Coaches Association) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll announced Tuesday. The Phoenix combined for a 3.616 team grade point average for the 2011-12 season, tallying the program's highest team GPA on record. Full article
