But with all the assistant coaches former uwgb players badgers players for that type of job there could be a few interesting options the head coach did say a lot of people did want to be a coach during his intro press conference and so if there are any other coaches added for role like that it’s still interesting maybe

It’s unlikely he would go back to st Norbert a uwgb homecoming has to be a pretty good thing a smooth way to round out the coaching staff if it’s not him and someone else then wonder where right down the road from northern Michigan school could be?

Sam Vander Plas has been named the director of basketball operations. Based on his work experience, family connection to GB and family connection to Coach Ryan this seems like a very solid and frankly logical hire. I don't know when we will see fans in the stands again but when we do if the community doesn't come out for this staff then short of hiring Tony Bennett himself they never will. These guys have a name brand for Wisconsin, a local high school star and a family connection to the Bennett era covered. The next time the job is open I don't want to hear keep it local if they aren't supporting these guys first! greenbayphoenix.com/news/2020/9/22/mens-basketball-sam-vander-plas-named-director-of-basketball-operations.aspx

I like the fact the Nix program has re-enforced the Bennett and Ryan connection.

Not exactly sure why fans come out to watch the staff but whatever. Maybe he now needs to look at the athletic director. Maybe hiring an athletic director from Wisconsin would be the logical next step. A person who would have connections to the state. Might be a good move for fundraising.

The current AD made the toughest decision for the future of athletics at GB since Heideman was dismissed. Now, Green Bay and college athletics across the country face the existential challenge of COVID-19. Everyone needs to take a breathe and take things one day at a time. Guthrie and Ryan have made the right moves to this point. The dice have been rolled and let's see how this plays out.

I'm not sure why the origin of the coaching staff matters either but a lot of people have been vocal in 2002, 2010, 2015 & 2020 that the coaches need to have a connection to GB. This is the most connected staff of the four so those people need to get involved or shut up.
