Maybe Dicks going to come out of retirement! Or Bo! If they aren’t going to d-2 or Linc didn’t do something bad this is the only other explanation. The firing is appropriate. The timing is not. All of the people on twitter clamoring for the nostalgia hires are nonsensical, but there are a lot of them. It’s like the twitter warriors that always want to Packers to re-sign Jordy Nelson. I have no idea what direction they’d be looking in, Gary will prob get another interview like last time, but I’d like to see what other candidates there are outside of the Bennett coaching tree.

I for one am not happy with the situation or the timing. I was happy with the incoming re recruiting class and relative to the resources, I thought he did well. As for losing a few players, that seems to be the norm these days. I would be happy with Herbst but not Grzesk.

He will land on his feet, though, he’s a solid coach.

Yup, commenting on the issues won't be part of the solution, so I won't be commenting. All of that is in the past. Now, will the AD contend "just cause" in the firing, and withhold future payments to the former coach? I have no idea. I've been disconnected from the situation the last few years. The point is, you brought it up, that’s why people are asking. Exactly! No point in throwing random accusations out without anything to back it up. Sounds like AD just wanted him out and was going to do anything to get it done. Doesn’t make much sense financially cause Darner is going to get his money.

Not many fans from Green Bay are going to come out in the winter every year to watch a group of juco transfers who are only going to be here for a year or 2, go out and try to go one on one every possession. Look at the few glory years this team has had in the past. Local guys who bought into a team system, played hard on both ends of the floor, and knocked down open shots, sprinkled in with a few athletic kids who didn't feel the need to try to show what they could do every night in the hopes of landing a $20,000 a year gig overseas somewhere. The only way they will be successful in the future financially, and on the scoreboard is to try to build that culture again. Contrary to popular opinion, you can still win playing this way. There is a guy in Virginia doing it.

It would be nice if everyone wasn’t so hush hush about this.
If we are moving to d-2 it would be the equivalent to me of losing a best friend. I cannot and will not support a d-2 program.

I personally don’t want a D3 coach taking over our program. No disrespect

So how long am I going to have to wait for the good dirt to come out? I hope not very.
Personally I'd be happy to have my coach back...

I personally don’t want a D3 coach taking over our program. No disrespect Well, we won’t need a D1 coach if we are a D3 team. Pure speculation, but the WIAC might be an option.

We aren’t leaving D1. People need to stop speculating that.

We aren’t leaving D1. People need to stop speculating that. Do you know anything concrete? I labeled my post as speculation, but it makes sense in context, anyway. We’ve always had budgetary issues.

How exactly did the AD pitch this move to his superiors? A dismissal for cause is just so extremely unlikely. Paying off Linc is going to be a bitter pill to swallow. There's going to be a scandal forthcoming, Wisconsin style. I'm stocking up on popcorn right now.

There's going to be a scandal forthcoming, Wisconsin style. I'm stocking up on popcorn right now. Well the AD declined to comment to a local news station, so either he didn’t anticipate a lot of backlash, this wasn’t fully his decision, or there is a fluid situation going on that is out of his control.
